Default 5 mm Wheel Spacers added

First "mod", lol to my 2011 Targa 4S - running 19 inch Carrera Sport Wheels - specs before spacers:

Front - Rims: 8.5 x 19 55mm offset - Tires: 235/35 ZR19
Rear - Rims: 11.5 x 19 50mm offset - Tires: 305/30 ZR19

Added OEM 5 mm spacers with long bolts, fills out fender nicely and although small, the difference is noticeable. (I know lower that thing!)

You have some incredible eyes to see 5mm!!! But, everyone is entitled to do what they can to personalize their rides!

(I never did understand the 5mm spacers--thinking they were only to move a certain wheel from a larger brake caliper, or something similar).

I have the 5mm spacers, ordered this way from the factory. The best benefit is, that it makes it a little easier to clean the wheels, inside barrels and calipers. That little bit (5mm) pulls the wheels slightly out, and you can get your hand in there a little better, without having to remove the entire wheels.

72offsuit's wheels will be difficult to clean, regardless.

I still manage to slice my knuckles on the brake discs (or it could be the splash guards) every time I clean the inside of the front wheels

I have the Sport Wheels as well, but in 07 the wheel came with 15mm spacers...did you add the 5mm on top of the 15mm spacer ?

Try wearing a simple pair of disposable rubber gloves. You can buy a box of 100 at the auto parts store.

Although a lot of work, if you really want to clean in there properly you should do yourself a favor--take the wheels off. In the long run the job is much easier. (And precisely one of the reason why I ordered my car with PCCBs).

Did you buy the car new with 15mm spacers? On the widebodies, the Carerra Sport wheels should have come with the widebody fitment and then no spacers would have been OEM. One way to check is to look at your offset - should be stamped on the wheel rim by the valve stem - you should see 11.5 to the left of the valve stem and 50 to the right. If it says 67 to the right then you have the narrow body version and I can understand why a 15mm spacer was fitted. But to answer your question, you shouldn't add a spacer to a spacer. Sounds like OP has the 50mm offset and he added the 5mm spacer to that. Maybe it wasn't until 08 that a 50mm rear Carerra Sport wheel was offered - if that's the case with yours then a I think a 17mm spacer was the factory add-on you can tell since that spacer is fitted to the hub with the OEM lug bolts and the wheel is fitted to the spacer with lug nuts.
