    PART 3

    So, my question is...

Having done this yourself have you had any problems? I've looked at your posts and pictures on Rennlist and 6 speedonline (beautiful colour combo, by the way), and it looks that whilst more of the tyre is visible outside of the bodywork it is not excessive. I can't judge whether you would get contact under very hard cornering?

I also wonder if Porsche have noticed and if they made any comment?

I can send pictures of my car with wheels test fitted to see if it looks similar to yours and also with current wheels used on track so you can see the extent to which they get buried in the wheelarches. I think I'd have to send these via email, so if this would help drop me a line to [email protected].

Thankyou for taking the time to read this, and I look forward to receiving your reply.

    Best regards,

    PART 2

I suspect in ordinary driving you wouldn't really have a problem (obviously I don't want it to look silly with wheels well outside the wheelaches), but I've been looking at a couple of my track day pictures and the wheels can get buried in the wheelarches under hard cornering.

I've done several internet searches, sent messages to my local Porsche Centre and contacted Porsche in Germany, but I'm not getting consistent answers. And whilst the Tequipment brochure does not list 5mm spacers as an option (as it does for the normal 8' and 11' wheels) it doesn't say you CAN'T.

I hope you don't mind me contacting you out of the blue, but it seems you are the only other owner out there who has done what I planning to do and discussed it on the internet.

I am fitting a set of 19" Sport Classic wheels (the modern interpretation of the Fuchs wheel) to my 997.1 C4S. These wheels have the same dimensions as your Carrera Sport wheels - 8.5' 55ET and 11.5' 50ET.

My car has 5mm spacers fitted which I don't want to remove (I'll be refitting my original wheels with winter tyres), but I'm concerned that this will push the new wheels outside the bodywork and cause me problems with the tyre contacting the wheelarch. I was able to get Porsche to test fit the wheels some time ago, but this issue didn't occur to me or them at the time! My current wheels sit fairly flush as it is, and the new ones will be 8mm (F) and 7mm (R) further out (using an offset calculator).
