Default Denison did not work out - or - my loss is your gain

Bought a Denison and BlueTooth for my 07 non cdc back in November 2010. I have been reading all of the posts over the years and decided that it seemed easy enough.

I have attempted this install on three unsuccessful separate occasions.

First attempt: I went for what seemed to me to be the easiest install. I ripped all of the plastic out of my trunk and attempted to connect to the fiber behind the brake master cylinder. After some discussions, it was decided that I should do an in cabin install.

Second attempt: Rip all of the dash apart, install in cabin, and reassemble dash. I live in New Orleans and we lost our dealership due to the economical difficulties, so I went a technician who specializes in high end cars. We actually have recently received a dealership, but it really is shared with an Infinity dealership. I do not want Infinity technicians (wanna be's) messing around with my car. Well my service technician added the CD changer and the denison would not function.

I told him to leave the CDC programmed, and I would consult with others and verify my wiring was correct. I learned that I did not have the fiber correct.

Third attempt: Rip all of the dash apart, minor modifications of wiring, and back to the technician. Still was unsuccessful. I told the technician to reset my default settings.

Conclusion: Remove Denison, buy a FM modulator, which is not the setup I was looking for - since all of my other autos are ipod ready.

So, I am frustrated and just want the Denison out of my sight. I really think the problem was with my technician, since I know my wiring was correct. I also think that the unit does work, since I have not read of anybody receiving damaged units.

Here's the deal: You pay shipping, and its yours. But wait, not so fast! You must actually want this for your personal enjoyment. I am not giving this away so you can sell it. And you must also install this. I do not want this thing sitting on your shelf.

Convince me that you meet the above conditions and I will ship next Saturday.

JP....the last note I had from you was in mid-January. We sent very detailed instructions and YES this will work just fine IF you have the wiring right. The detailed instructions may have been confusing, but they have all the detail needed.

Can we talk Monday...if, that is, you want to review and try one last time? These units will work fine in your 997 but they do require correct installation/setup.

Let me know...happy to try one last time for you.

jp. I hope Eric can help you install this unit correctly. But otherwise, I will be glad to put in my MY997.1. I have qualified folks in my area (Northern Ca) that installed successfully the Sirius Sat Radio just yesterday on my car and they have done many a Bluetooth/iPod installations before. I will send you pm. Good luck. z356

I preferred NAV-TV for SAT and had it installed in 2 hours at a NJ Audio specialist that Porsche dealership recommended. Never had a problem and works through the PCM. Ordered Sirius with Best of XM for sports. No fm modulator is necessary or wanted. Go on their website and check them out. I'd do their bluetooth too if I was interested in that but with a cab and the top down, forget it. Here's the part for bluetooth....Porsche Vehicle Tooki, and here's the model for SAT.....SIRPOR2-USB. Website....www.nav-tv.com. Don't give up because you had a bad experience with Denison. NAV-TV works great.

JP,

My '06 (owned from new) would love this! And I will send pics of the install. Not sure if it's available but if so I will make it work. It will make my commute from CT back home to MA every week much better.

Thanks either way.

Best,

Matt (in MA)

JP, I would bet the one of your local high end car audio shops has expenrience in installing these units. I also bought mine from Eric and I have lots of mechanical experience, but was scared of srewing with the fiber loop so I brought it in to my local high end audio shop that had installed several of these units. They did the install and I brought it into my local dealer to have the CDC programed.

Why not just get an experienced installer? It took my guy an hour at the most. You're obviously not a pro (nor am I) why waste your valuable time?

Could you please post the name (and possibly number/address) of the AV installer? Getting close to acquiring a 911 and going to add BT/Sat. Radio etc. and will be in need of this. Thanking you in advance...

Jp,

Wicked nice of you. I am very grateful and will put it to good use. Please forgive my delayed reply. Traveling / working in another state kind of stinks but this will improve the overall quality of the commute.

Thank you very much.

I just had the SIRPOR2-USB installed in my 2006 Cayenne, but I am wondering if there is a way to get the song information to scroll on the MAIN screen on the radio unit.
