Sheesh, everyone's got their hand out these days. If you want to reward exemplary service, call the General Manager and point out the behavior you'd like to reward and maybe send over a couple of pizzas for lunch some day.

You know what...you bring your car in with your pizzas and I'll bring mine in with me once a year thanks you in cash and let's see who gets the better service....I don't mind paying for excellent service. I used to be a bartender and I hated guys like you that thought it was my job to serve them. I'm sorry but that's just being cheap and nothing more.

i would feel fine tipping the car wash guys at the dealer but not the service advisor. that is just plain awkward. i have handed over wine on many occasions so my service guys.. i was told bring me hard liquor next time by a few! lol

One time I sent over a few dozens of Beard Papa's cream puffs, and the manager told me that the whole shop liked them so much there was a small riot fighting for the last cream puff

Since then, everyone over there remembered me as the cream puff customer, and they treated me like their best friend ever.

My brother in law brings around shrimp trays at Christmas time to his best customers (fleet customers). They never forget stuff like that.

I think it's very unprofessional to give a different level of service depending on whether you're taking a bribe.

FWIW, I tip bartenders and wait staff because they often make less than minimum wage and it's considered part of their pay. The service writer at a Porsche dealer is nothing like that. If I get better service by bribing the writer, then I'm clearly at the wrong place.

Just for the record, Tommy didn't say that, I did...Tommy just doesn't know how to quote. I agree that food is a better way to get what you want than the awkward action of handing the service guy a twenty.

He's the vendor, they're the customer. That's how it works. Why are people here implying that the customer owes the Porsche employee additional money, though?

Let me just clear up my point....first of all I don't tip the Service Writer it's the technician I tip...I could've been clearer on that.

What I didn't say but I believe clearly inferred is that of course it's my job to serve the customers; that's what I'm being paod for...even the ones that don't tip but they are not going to get my best service...that's just human nature! That's what I'm saying and you knew that's what I meant. I would only tip the technician for outstanding service and that's what I get.

Tipping and bribing are two different things and America is all about working harder for the person that appreciates that effort and shows you by tipping you.

Hey if you don't want to give a tip that's your business....justifying it is something else again.
