newbie question and advice
i have a great line on a brand new 911c4s
http://hoehn.porschedealer.com/new/P...57241/info.php
I am wondering if I should wait for the next gen 911 that will be here in 11 months or bite the bullet. I resume the values of the current release will take a nice hit when the new ones come out.
another question, historically have the 4's been released at the same time as the 2's or do they come 6 months or a year later?
thanks!

If you must have the latest then wait. You'll pay some more money and the car will experience more depreciation but this is for you decide if it is an acceptable trade off for having the most recent and next gen vehicle.
A downside to a new/next gen model is the 1st year can be a bit (a bit) risky. New model intro bug/issues. But there's a warranty and most examples of a new/next gen don't have any bugs/issues.
Can't help you regarding the timeline of when the 4's appear vs. the 2's. I seem to recall they show up at the same time (the S models can be delayed some) but this can vary. Really the only way to know is to wait and see what is available. There are no hard/fast rules as far as I know.
To me the worse thing you're facing is waiting 11 months for the next gen model to be offered. 11 months is a long time to be Porsche-less!
Sincerely,
Macster.

If the last two generations of 911 are any indication, the 4's will follow the 2's by a few months. The 996C2 became available in the US in the fall of 1998 while the 996C4 didn't show up until February 1999 IIRC. The 997C2 was first seen in the summer of 2004, but the 997C4 wasn't launched until Summer 2005. No guarantees, but I would bet that the AWD models won't be released at the same time as the 2WD 991.

The 325HP C2 and the 355HP C2S were both offered when the 997.1 was introduced. Both models, with HP upgraded to 345/385, were also available when the 997.2 first came out.

The fact it is a S is the key factor. In the old days even with the new model coming out you wouldnt get far from MSRP. Right NOW in this economy you should be able to rob the dealer blind. There may be "trunk" money on this model so check, last time it was $12K on the C4S. Thats $12k OFF AFTER you
do YOUR part of the deal. I would bet you should be able to get close invoice on the OTD price.

That is interesting and thanks for all the advice, what is trunk money? is that money from the factory to the dealer after the sale as an incentive to the dealer for selling the car?
thanks!

The other question that you should consider is... will you prefer the 991 over the 997.2? Some may not, for a variety of reasons.
