Default 18" Carrera III's what color is best?

Just acquired a set of used 18” Carrera III’s. My car left the factory with a set of 19” Carrera Classic’s.
I’m hoping to use the Carrera III’s for track work, they have a set of Michelin PS2 already installed.
But I thought of painting the Carrera III’s one of five colors to dress up the car every now and again, kinda like wearing a different tie to work.
I chose the Carrera III’s as they were the standard 18” wheel in 2006 and wanted to stay with the OEM wheel choices. If I do paint a color I’ll put a silver lip on, like the red item below.

Just for fun I’ll run a poll to gauge opinions.
  1. OEM silver – easy choice, bit boring really. Easy to re-sell.
  2. Maritime Blue – matching color like the 968 Club Sport’s of the early 90’s, as offered in Europe.
  3. Black – contrasting Black looks better on lighter blues, like Riviera, I think.
  4. Gold – something off the wall, and a 555 Subaru look.
  5. Red – “now for something completely different”, looks good on the RS or a white car.

if you got them cheap - leave them same color as they are (silver?).

they were probably 8" wide front and 10" wide rears, it is not very optimal but will do for 235 front 285 rear rubber. i use those rims for winter tires set (which has became a 'street' set as well) and for track I got CCW in 18" 9" wide fronts 12" wide rears in NB GT3 offset. that allows to use 255 wide fronts and 315 (even 335) rear tires (R888).

Correct & they came with nearly new Michelin PS2 235 front, 265 rears. I'm running 295 rear's on my 19" now so moving to the 285 rears on my next set if 18" tires should be very close on a 5lb lighter rear wheel.

Wait a minute - when did you start wearing a tie to work?

for what it`s worth I was able to mount 245/295 hoosiers A6 on those rims. not sure how optimal it was in front but rear was looking fine.
you definitely have multiple fitment options with those wheels.

If you go with Gold, I am buying you a Subaru windshield decal. You've been warned.

Lots to contemplate while I wear through the PS2's.

Luckily the color Gold is tracking far behind the others!

I just got a set and toyed with the changing them up. I like the Fuchs look, specially on your car.

That's what I needed from the start, thanks Mark!
I'm digging those Blue wheels, the Black & Grey wheels don't do it for me, they probably need a silver lip.

Default Progress

The wheels have arrived, 18" Carrera III's (O.E wheel) with used Michelin PS2's and TPMS installed.

And as of this AM the wheels have been striped.

Next up - powder coating.

DEFINITELY NO to Gold, and Red...

Silver safest... however if you needed to *look different*, do either black or blue, black you could also re-sell. Just know with blue wheels, you're stuck with em unless Dan wanted to pick em up!

Well, the answer sorta depends on the colors of the car the wheels will go on. You want the color choice to work with the existing color choices of the car in some way. I recommend against a color that doesn't exist in any visible way on the car already... as it just looks dorky.

Pick something similar to a trim color or interior color. Sometimes the body paint color can work too, but too much of a color can be a bad thing.
