Well, the answer sorta depends on the colors of the car the wheels will go on. You want the color choice to work with the existing color choices of the car in some way. I recommend against a color that doesn't exist in any visible way on the car already... as it just looks dorky.
Pick something similar to a trim color or interior color. Sometimes the body paint color can work too, but too much of a color can be a bad thing.

The 18" wheels that I've recently aquired I want a different look, and an alternate set for the track - hey it might not even look as good as the car is today, so it's either Black or Blue.

If you can keep the lip silver, I'd go blue... BE DIFFERENT!

Dont keep the silver lip, I know I'm the different opinion but everyone seems to do the silver lip. If you want a classy look keep the lip silver, if you want the raw punch in the gut "different" look, paint the whole wheel one color.
Are you painting them yourself? If so paint two one color and the other two the other and see what looks best. I painted my Carrera III's with satin black spray paint to save on costs and they came out great.

Yeah man! And how goes it go with your interior mods?
The wheels are being powder coated professionally and I've seen his other work - fantastic.
It's a friend of a friend = good $.

Sometimes you can just go too far with blue, I think. This was actually a factory job--matching blue turquoise wheels. Doesn't really work for me.

This is my friend's GT3. The wheels have a yellow line to match the brakes and seatbelts, all done at the factory. I thought yours would look good in blue, but very thin like this GT3

Good lord these wheels came out nice, just look at that gloss - I'm really pleased, the quality of the powder coating rocks.
So black it is then!
Now I need to look at the details, center caps and a lip or a stripe before mounting them back up with the TPMS & Michelin PS2's.
