Default 2007 911 Coupe without PASM

I saw an ad for a 2007 911 coupe. It has 19" Carrera S wheels, but no PASM.
I would use the car as a daily driver-mostly interstate and smooth state roads-no city streets.

The car is out of state and I would hate to go there for nothing.

Do you think 19" wheels without PASM would be too rough?

Currently I drive a 328i sedan with sport suspension and that is rough enough!

Thanks for the input!

Are you sure it's an S? I thought all S models came with PASM standard. Actually, I am pretty sure of that. You might wanna check into it.

Only way to know is to drive it on some roads to see if it's acceptable to you.

Non-PASM suspension stiffness is supposed to fit between the Normal and Sport mode of PASM. For reference, I almost NEVER put my PASM on Sport when driving on streets, only use on very smooth highways, or when I wanna corner quite hard. Even when tracking I rarely switch off Sport on bumpy tracks.

He said it has Carrera S wheels. He didn't say it was an "S". No need for PASM as a DD, really.

I have an '05 with the 19" Carrera S. I also have an '06 3 series (w/o sport suspension), but my last BMW had sport suspension. If you think the BMW ride is too harsh you will not like any 997 Porsche. The M3 rides a lot smoother. The best advise is to drive different cars with different set-ups.

Cheers

No. It's not an S. It's a base 2007 911. The guy went for the 19"'s but didn't get the PASM.

You are right, but I hate traveling 3 states to find out the 19"'s are too rough without the PASM.

If you like the car, don't worry over the wheels. I don't think you'd notice a difference between 18s and 19s on the street. I have tried both on my car and didn't. There are many more important things to worry over when looking for a used 911.

I drove BMWs for 25 yrs and the last several were M cars. They were all softer than any 911. A 328i Sedan is rough, hmm... Test drive some 911s locally to make sure that is a car you can live with before traveling about. It is no where near as practical nor as cushy as a 328i BMW.

Then just go to you local dealer and test drive a similar car to see how you like its ride. These cars are NOT meant to be comfortable. So, if you're thinking a BMW 3xx is too harsh, I'd definitely look elsewhere.

i bet your local dealer should have some base cars with base shocks - try them. that will give you pretty accurate idea of what suspension looks like.
stock non-pasm is kinda a strange thing - it is pretty soft in front and harsh in rear and car sways a lot. now i have much stiffer springs but overall feel is smoother than with stock shocks/springs.
i think on smooth enough streets you will be just fine.

The 997 Carrera mechanical suspension is tuned for 18" rims. If I had a that car I would install those rims.
