Extreme CPO?
Hi folks. Thought this was interesting. When inquiring about an '07 T4S, the dealer advised that they were replacing the engine in order to CPO the car. When doing their CPO inspection, the technician noticed a small amount of oil (tiny droplets) in the coolant. They thought that this could mean either a leaking head gasket or a small crack / imperfection in the block somewhere. There would be no way to be 100% sure that it was diagnosed correctly for a long time. So Porsche's answer ? Replace the engine!! The dealer claims that this way they are 100% sure that whoever buys the vehicle as a CPO'd vehicle is not buying something with a future concern.
Just a great example of the extremes the dealer will go to CPO a vehicle!!

OMG... is Porsche finally into making things right and shut all the forum bad mouths 
That now put the word CPO in large bold font for my next ride. Expensive but way to go if they offer that kind of quality level !

Wow, impressive. But dont expect every CPO to be that meticulously inspected.
Just curious, how does one notice a small amount of oil in the coolant during a CPO inspection?

Agreed!! Have no idea how they spotted the oil....this was relayed to me by the salesman. Possibly infrared spectroscopy?

Not as extreme as this case but when i bought my car CPO, the car would not start due to a dead battery. The dealer changed the battery to a brand new one rather than trying to charge it to see if it'll hold it's charge. IMO, that's pretty professional of them.

If you want to calibrate the qualityy of your CPO just ask the parts department for a can of Wurth (or any other brand) rubber lubricant. They are supposed to lube the pads on the cab every year. If they don't stock it how can they perform the factory perscribed service?? I have found in my limited three city check only 50% stock it and th others ask me why would I want that.

Guys, this car (07 Targa 4S) is listed at $70K. Is CPO'd with new engine but rest of the car has about 23,000 on it. It's a Tip with nav, meteor gray metallic/cocoa and all the usual goodies but no sports chrono or sport exhaust. Am I nuts to think this car could be had in the high $50s? Thanks for helping me get my head around this!
