Default Help Deciphering DME Readout

Guys, A newbie here and just taking a look at a DME readout on an '07 C4S with about 25,500 on the clock. Here are the numbers:

Number of ignitions - Range 1 - 5,315 - 789.6 h
Number of ignitions - Range 2 - 963 - 685.2 h
Number of ignitions - Range 3 - 236 - 492.4 h
Number of ignitions - Range 4 - 183 - 410.7 h
Number of ignitions - Range 5 - 1 - 362.7 h
Number of ignitions - Range 6 - 1 - 362.7 h

Operating hours counter: 795.2
Typification number: 9978US01
Production key: 67TA
Order type: 997520
Country code: C02
Engine type: 25E5
Transmission type: G9731
Potentialometer 1 voltage - lower limit: 44.1
Potentialometer 2 voltage - lower limit: 365.5

Any red flags here? Just starting to learn about DME's so the learning curve is pretty steep right now. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for all your help!

from what I understand, type 1 and 2 overrevs can be achieved by hitting the rev limiter.

Range 3 or 4 overrevs are more serious and are the likely results of an errant downshift.

The 5 or 6 range with 1 listed are likely just computing errors and not actual overrevs.

I'd be slightly careful here, as it does look like the car was mildly overrevved.

I just had a conversation about this with my service advisor. He said not to worry about ranges 1-3 at all. You can only hit up to range 3 by hitting the rev limiter at 7300rpm. This engine completed 60 full revolutions above 7500rpm - range 4. If this car is perfect in any other way, I would just get a compression test. After all. last time range 4 was hit 300 hrs ago. Any damage would have shown up by now.
Range 5 could get a warranty voided.
Range 6 means the engine hit its maximum 10200 rev limit. Not good at all. This would automatically void the warranty.

P.S. Some people here forget that this is Porsche we are talking about and will tell you to stay away from cars with any number of ignitions above range 2. I call this BS. However, when selling such a car, you narrow your market by that group of people.

Thanks very much for the note. Sounds like this car might be fine. It's in great shape in all other aspects although still trying to determine the extent of some previous roof leaking (it's a Targa). Take care. BTW, love your plates!

I would call a few random Porsche service managers and ask their opinion about that read out. The level 4 could be a problem. It's a lot of $ for a car and this one is telling you to be cautious.

Thanks for the thought! That's exactly what I will do!
