Evolution of a 997 C2S - Street Car to Track Car
WARNING - DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME!!
So I was talking with some friends and family we were all laughing at how my car has transformed from the day I brought her home... so I decided to make a picture story of how my car has transformed in the 2 1/2 years since she came home with me.
This is what happens when a hobby turns into an obsession.... CRACK KILLS an so does modding!
Day 1: Straight home from Newport Beach Porsche (One of the best days of my life!!!)
First real mods: OEM GT3 Aero Kit
Her first taste of track mods: (Roll Bar, Sparco Seat, Harnesses, Track only wheels)
Playing with Vinyl
Now she's a bit more track focused (18" wheels, upgraded pads, R compound tires, full JRZ suspension, weight loss begins)
Full Matte white vinyl wrap: For looks and paint protection for the track. (New mods: Full monoball suspension)
This is where she went of the deep - end. She is now 100% track only
Full Livery
Fully Stripped
Half Cage
Ready for track duty
Heading towards a black hole!!!
RSR Aero Ducting
GT3 Cup Car Radiators
Grand AM Carbon fiber front end
StopTech BBK
OMP Quick Release Steering Wheel
Fully Gutted of all interior and AC
BBI Race set up and alignment (track widened by 15mm front and back)
2010 GT3 Cup decklid and Wing (67")
Is it over yet.... NOOOOO
She is back in the shop for:
1. Full welded in chromoly cage
2. LSD
3. LWFW
4. Upgraded clutch
After that I really hope she is done for 2011!!

So now it is finally a logical time to sell her and get a 997 cup car?
great project. i modestly plan to get recaro sporster cs seat installed next month then most likely gt gears TBD. have it ever crossed your mind to replace c2s with 996 gt3 donor car before getting car gutted?
i personally think I will most likely get myself a used radical 1500cc when I`ll feel that I have overgrown my partially prepped C2. or ariel atom. or SRF. will see how stars will align.

Nice choices. I think you'd like a Caterham too. Whenever I go to a PCA autocross I'm jealous of the guys in 914's , those things look so perfect for a-x. I'm thinking 914-V8 or 914-subie when I get my track-only car.

Nicely done Mobonic. I'm sure it's a blast.
I have to say that taking a car from a pure street car to a pure track machine is a really fun thing to do. It really makes the car that much more special.

Excellent and thanks for doing what many of us aspire to do.
My last car, a 964, kind of went the same way. Now the pile of parts for my 997 that are building up in my garage have me heading down the same very slippery slope. No matter what car I get it just keeps happening over and over and over...... Kind of like a Porsche nut version of the Ground Hog Day movie....
