Wow, I pay less than that for my airplane! That's really high - depending on the age of your car, you're paying something like 5-10% of the insured value per year. That's nuts...

About 1500 a year for my 09 C2S in Chicago - 27 with no tickets. My beater Corolla is 1200 a year, amazingly.

just curious, my 997 is my DD (and as of this coming weekend, my only car)...
I do the same thing, and call the insurance company to tell them when I want "full coverage". They don't take an odomoter statement, just enter me into the corporate system as "active". I add full coverage for the Speedster during the summer months, and only add full coverage for the GT3 when I need to drive it from the track to the dealer or for a street joyride to bed brakes... This is a great way to save money on insurance! I learned this trick about 15 years ago...

Since it's become my DD, my '09 C4S is about $2K/yr, $250 ded w/USAA. I don't think it's too bad given the state of idiocy on the roads around DC.

These are bad deals.

Also deductible should really be higher. Are you actually going to file a claim for $600 in damage?

That's a good point. I'll check on that this weekend... So would $1K be appropriate? I'm guessing that's the number since anything under that wouldn't be a big deal to write the check and just pay for it.

My advice is to self-insure a bit and raise your deductible.
Over the time period of two years, I get my deductible back
in lower premiums.

I just turned 35 and have full coverage with Snake Farm
on my '06 Carrera AND my '08 Range Rover Sport for $957.96 annually.

I carry a $2,500.00 deductible on both.

I'm 51, my wife is 37, no kids. Erie Insurance.
Bodily injury $250M/person $500M/accident
Property damage $100M/accident
Comprehensive & collision with $500 deductible (I should raise this to $1000!)
+uninsured and underinsured coverage
+some optional coverages I don't understand (such as "Repair or Replacement")

2009 Infiniti FX35 $659/year (the wife's car)
2011 VW GTI $660/year
2009 C4S $921/year

Seems reasonable to me. Less than I was paying in NJ for just a E46 M3.

I thank Kosmo for the timeliness of this thread. My allstate insurance just ran out today. Was $1673 for six months for an 08 Acura MDX and the 09C2 (wifey had a lead foot in her service car on more than one occasion last year. Shopped around after reading this thread 2 days ago and yesterday got a six months' premium with maximum coverage in all categories and a 500 deductible on both cars for $770 with the Gecko -1800 dollars less over 12 months
