How old are you?

32. I was mighty relieved when I turned 25 and my insurance rates dropped in half.

Age is a big factor. You don't want to know what I was paying in Europe under 25 with a new 911s! Fortunately, medical expenses being as they are, the Porsche rates very highly in protecting their occupants, so premiums are significantly lower than one might expect.

You may want to shop around considering you're an average joe driver and are paying 3-5x what others are...

28 years old, no moving violations (or accidents) in over 5 years, married, 2nd car that is used less then 7,500 miles a year, $0 comp / $500 collison and I pay about $600 a year. During the months I don't drive it and store it, it only cost like $10 a month because it is covered for fire and theft.

not sure what i`ve done wrong - i have geico for all 4 cars we own and my 997 c2 portion costs $309 for 6 months. i can only guess it is underinsured a bit and may be i need to pay more, but i did not use this insurance for any cars in 5 years so far.

the link specifically mentions the 911 S.
i heard that also about the gt2. Perhaps it was do to lawsuits related to driver deaths???

I shopped Geico, State Farm, and options with my agent @ Allstate. They all ranged ~$450-550/6 months for the GTS as a second car for pleasure.

how does that work?

do you have to tell them when it goes into and out of storage? do they take an odometer reading/have the right to inspect where it is?

what happens if during the "storage" months you decide to go for a drive and something happens (even if you're not at fault)?

just curious, my 997 is my DD (and as of this coming weekend, my only car)...
