That's comforting - I am looking at probably 20K for the rears and 25K for the fronts (RE050s). I also drive fairly aggressively, but not like an ***.

If you live in northern VA near DC, you are going slow.

Proper alignment will gain you lots more mile on your street tires. It is well known that these cars come from the factory out of alignment. remember its not so much the camber that wears tires it's the amounbt of toe. You can dial in less toe and still keep the alignment with in Porsche spec and have much better tire wear.

I'm sure someone has already asked, but regarding your avatar, are you a vet?

Skibum,

If you can wait till April Michelin is coming out with the replacement to their PS2. The new one is Cheaper, faster, longer wearing & beats all the specs of the PS2. Go to their web site to check it out.

Oh I can wait... and plan to.
Thanks for the info.
Are you referring to the PS3 or the super sport?

Nope, just a friend of orangutans everywhere.

Skibum,

It's call Michelin Pilot Super Sport. Their web site had a press release about it. Here is a post from this forum:

Thanks. I was replacing due to age and not wear.
I'll wait.

when folks are posting they get 10k or 15k or whatever, can we assume you mean to a tread depth of 2-3mm? just curious to know how low are you going.....

With my PZero Rossos I never paid attention to tread depth. I just drove them until I couldn't stand the noise any more and replaced them for a brief respite of peace and quiet.

Got 20K miles on my rear PS2's. Here's a pic of PS2 replacement with the old tire on the right.

Still running on OEM fronts which have 30K miles on them.

20k on PS2's is great! I get about 10-15k (no track). I have to confess though that I don't know how to properly tell how low the wear is (gasp!). I just let the dealer tell me. Any suggestions on a good tool?

Cheers

Easiest way is to look at the wear bars on the tires. Once they are even with the tread it's time. Run your fingers down the grooves and you'll find them. However it's the inner one you need to inspect most on these cars.
Hope this helps.
