We are looking for a new SUV as well. The ML 350 is at the top of my list. Would you mind telling me how good your smoking deal was?

Went and looked at some Mercedes SUV's and they are nice but the plastic parts of the interior are not as nice and put together like the BMW X5 is. Plus we thought the BMW X5 rode very nice with better seats. Also the new Cayanne is much nices than our current 09 Cayanne.

IF I did not want to spend a lot of money...which might be the case here I will be looking at the new Jeep Grand Cherokee, Ford Explorer, Ford Edge and GMC Terrain

I had narrowed a search to the same four, and picked up a new X5d this afternoon. I found the sloping rear windows on the Cayenne and Q5 to limit utility, and VW is crazy with their new Touareg pricing.

After Chrysler acquired Jeep I never bought another one.

Switched to '01 F/awd RX300, poor compromise drive train(***) wise but outstanding quality.

Next purchase, once the RX fails seriously (if ever) will likely be a Cayenne. Unless the Venza goes hybrid with a DFI 4 cylinder and the RX350's F/awd system. Or if the Cayenne hybrid were a N/A V6.

*** FWD strictly until/unless TC activates. Has a VC but that was re-engineered as of '01 to remain "flaccid". That, of course, made the VC useless so it was dropped entirely for the RX330 product run.

they certainly are.

They also ride like tanks, have massive wind noise, and get some of the worst gas mileage I've ever experienced.

Great looking and very solid vehicles, but not something I'd ever want to daily drive.
