I second the pilot. Good room, reliable as heck and nice to drive.

Consumer Reports gave the Lexus GX a "Don't Buy: Safety Risk" rating.

I would vote for the new 2011 Cayenne.

I have the Audi Q7 S-Line 4.2 and love it. I tow my company display trailer (20') and smooth as can be. The new Q7's only come I believe with the 3.6 Diesel but are as fast from 0 - 60 as the 4.2. Mine has the adjustable suspension which you can set up on sport or normal. Even in sport mode it is smooth and not harsh at all. I had the X5 4.8is prior and had a number of issue's and trans went out at 40,000 miles. Sold it immediiately after that issue. Good luck!

I have had two ML's (2002 and 2004) and both were reliable and comfortable, so I would not hesitate to recommend them, despite the less than stellar reputation of the model in those years. The first one was a company lease (hence the two years of possesion), and the second one was traded in for a GL. Nice as the ML's are, the GL is much nicer in ride, interior materials, and cabin noise. I know it's more expensive, but have you taken a look at it?

I bought this bad boy two years ago because I am an egomaniac with an inferiority complex. In my wildest dreams I never thought my wife would like this thing. It is now her daily driver and she is nuts about it.

Women?

How about the Cayenne's kissing cousin, the Touareg?

MDX is incurring rather serious drive train component failures, torque converter lockup clutch mostly. Pre-emptive rear drive lockup even on perfectly dry and highly tractive surfaces results in too much driveline windup and/or tire scrubbing.

My wife loves that thing. She had a Honda Element too, so what can you say about her taste? (I mean, she did marry me, right? )

She does'nt like the MDX.
I'm hoping she likes the Lincoln MKX.
The MKX uses the same F/awd system as the new Explorer, and... the Escape/Mariner. The latter RIFE with drive train component failures. The new Explorer appears to have cooling, engine coolant, for the PTO and rear diff'l/clutch assembly.

If the MKX doesn't I would expect the same failure rate as the Escape.

TwinForce was the original moniker only changed to EcoBoost for PC. Moniker should be GAS-GUZZLER or GasHOG. TurboCharged engines, Ford's TwinForce included, MUST run in detuned/derated mode, sub-standard compression ratio, ~98% of the time.

I would strongly consider the X5 but you are right they are pricey with options (mine was pretty loaded at around 70K)
+1 on the X5.

+2 on the NEW Cayenne w/V6.
