Looking for new SUV for wifey ............

We have a 2008 ML320 diesel and it's been a fabulous vehicle. Highs are comfort (best seat heaters on the planet) and fuel economy, lows are handling and size. My wife doesn't like to drive it as it's too large for her. If I didn't have to tow the race car trailer we'd probably go down in size to the Q5. The ML series gets a refresh for 2012 so might be worth waiting a bit for the new one to be introduced.

SUV
We had the MDX (3 year lease) Then got the Q5 and it is a great car! Drives like a car, interior nicer than the MDX, and exterior looks better too.
We drove ALL the SUV's and by far liked the Q5 the best.
Good luck in your "hunt", thats half the fun!!!

My wife has a Volvo XC90 which she loves and refuses to consider anything else (I tried MDX on her and she said no!). The best thing about it is that it drives like a much smaller car - you don't feel like you're driving a bus. It's also pretty reasonably priced - you can get a reasonable spec new one for $35k.

Well, wifey decided on the 2011 ML350 4-Matic. Its rock solid. Wife feels safe, great brakes, and its a Mercedes.....
Got a smokin' deal so I can't complain.
The Lincoln MKX had cool gadgetry but can't come close to drivablity, handling, etc. And the X5 and Cayenne were too pricey with options we wanted.
Thanks for all the inputs guys.

My answer
The Mazda CX9 Grand Touring....has all the bells and whistles, AWD, 7 passenger, rolls on 20's, dual exhaust and looks + drives great. Interior is one of the better SUV's out there... Picked up a new 08 a few years back for wife and she loves it and I actually enjoy driving it myself. Easily one of the best SUV's out there for the money IMO...
Was not on my list, looked around and finally drove one and after it was an easy answer... has to be the grand touring model....
I know a little late... congrats on your new rig...

My wife drives the 2010 Lexus GX 460. This is her third GX. We also looked at the MB GL/ML, the Cayenne, and the X5. She loves it because when she drives it she feels large and in charge.
It doesn't ride as well as the prior GX's but the Kinetic suspension is pretty awesome on the highway...it keeps the vehicle flat during high speed cornering. 4.6L engine is an upgrade over prior models as well...get 21 mpg on the highway. I actually like driving the GX on the highway but I stay as far away from it as possible for around town needs.
Interior is much better ergonomically than past models, with all the bells and whistles you would expect in a Lexus.
In wasn't cheap ($60K) but happy wife/happy life.
