Default 12v socket... which fuse?

I accidentally blew the fuse for the lighter socket (touched the backside of the footwell socket with a screwdriver when removing radio trim).

Unfortunately, I can't see which fuse blew. They all look fine. Both 12v sockets are out. Can someone point me in the right direction as to which fuse # or position I should be replacing. I'm guessing that it's just a hairline burn in the fuse that I can't see.

Thanks

The 12v socket beside the ashtray is Group A position 10. Can't speak for the other 12V socket locations but the diagram is in a booklet stored on the back side of the fuse panel cover.

Sadly, with the newer fuses it is much harder to see if they have failed (shorted). Buy yourself a small fuse tester for that style fuse--it will be much more useful when you're at the side of the road in the dark. They are dirt cheap.

My 12v socket on the passenger footwell is also not working, checked the booklet inside the fuse box cover and it said F8, I do NOT see F8 anywhere on the diagram of the booklet. Can someone help?

F8 is their short hand for 8th fuse in a given row. You will need to know if it is Row A, B,,,,etc

For mine, it is in row A, the first top row that holds ten fuses.

Do you know which fuse it was on Row A? I notice there was a missing fuse which should have been a 25a and I put one in but that wasn't to the 12v socket as I tried plugging my radar detector in and it still didn't work. Stumped...

for my 997.2 my 12 volt sockets' fuse is the 8th on Row A. If a slot is empty, look first inside it to see if there are conductors in it.

You sir is a genius! It was indeed on Row A and 8th position which was a 7.5a fuse. I checked it and sure enough it was blown, had an extra one on the top of the fuse box and after install my 12v outlet works! Now I can use my radar detector without having to use the cigarette lighter. The bad news is this outlet is the same, it does not turn off after you turn off your car. Kind of a bummer but at least I got it to work. Thank you for your help bro.

I agree it is a shame that the footwell socket is non-switched. I converted my footwell socket to a switched output for exactly that reason - ie to connect accessories I want to turn off with ignition. I posted what i did here: https://rennlist.com/forums/997-foru...ry-socket.html

I browse thru your post and wow what you did was awesome! Unfortunately it's a bit out of my skill level. All I want is to have it turned off when the car is off like my Mercedes which I daily drive. This would drive me nuts if I daily my 997.2.
