Replacement exhaust tips
So, I just can't get over how lame/boring I think the stock (PSE and non-PSE) exhaust tips are on the 997. I really like the TA style ones that Alex sells, but a) it says they're not for PSE and b) OMG, $900 for tips? really?
Anyhow have suggestions? Here's the TechAt ones:

Exhaust jewelry? Stock fits the part just fine, thank you.

One of the reasons I went with the PSE (on the 997.1 I have) is because of the pseudo dual tips that the 8.3 liter engines have with the non-PSE exhaust. They are fake. That bothered me a bit. As I read more about the sound benefits of PSE I decided that I needed to include PSE in my order. Couldn't be happier.
One thing I am seriously considering is to have my tips coated black so I don't have to waste time cleaning them.

I can't even tell you what my exhaust tips look like, whether they are single or double, etc. I know they are there as I go over them with the sponge when I wash the car. The guys behind me must notice them as I pass them on the track Just kidding on all of this - I guess my point is I couldn't care less what they look like and certainly wouldn't spend money changing something that doesn't do anything.

Yes. For the same reason I had interior parts painted. Because they look better.
8.3 liter? Holy, crap - you got a a HEMI in there?
I'm not buying a race car, or I would buy something faster for the money. See my note above to ADias. Define "do anything" - if it makes me happy, that is the only thing it has to "do".
Not to get too far off on a rant, but what is it with everyone wanting to answer a "Should I?" question that was not asked. I was just hoping for some ideas of "Where should I look?".

Just trying to understand and answer the question You said stock looks lame / boring, you freaked out about $900 for new tips, and then asked if we had any suggestions. I guess mine is to reconsider the whole concept... Maybe an exhaust mod that "does something", meaning changes the tone / performance of the car?

Gotta agree with gravedgr. He asked a reasonable question, so why are you raining on his parade? Everyone is entitled to their own preference.
To address the o.p.'s question, I looked at a lot of exhaust tips and decided that the Schnell tips, sold by Vertex, I believe, were very high quality and very low price (and even then, I managed to purchase at a deep discount).

The framing of your post appears that you wanted to invite discussion. Then you complained when you got it. Just sayin'.

Absolutely! My (and Ron's) reply just offers a different perspective that is all. The OP is perfectly free to do whatever he wants. But in a public forum any post is subject to contrarian opinions. BTW, the only change I agree with is to paint/powder-coat the things to make them less visible.
