Default Are you a PCA member?

Regardless of yes or no, why?

I'll post my own thoughts after a few replies.

I just joined a month or so ago. As a fairly new 997 owner (1 year), I'd like to take DEs, participate in some tours and other events, and that seemed the way to go. I did my first tour a few weeks ago, and it was great fun. Unfortunately, the dates for DEs have been problematic so far.

Not all PCA Regions are created equal.

Default PCA

Initially I planned to do some DE but scheduling hasn’t worked out. However, the membership paid for itself during my last oil change.

I first joined last year when I bought my car. I would like to be more active but it is difficult to join the meetings with my travel schedule. I would also like to join some of the DEs but a bit concerned about what damage may occur. Perhaps I should have gotten an older car. The membership payed off when I got the discounts on my car cover and first service. The members seem like great folks.

We have an active region with some great touring events throughout the year.

I joined the PCA for technical support when I purchased my 997.2 , however I seem to get faster and more detailed information from everyone here on Rennlist. I will continue my membership with the PCA anyway.

I joined for no good reason at all when I first bought my 997S. Now I'm a member for the DE and Club Racing events, and for the great friends I've made through the PCA.

Thanks for the responses so far. When I had my 997.1 we joined PCA, but ended up not participating in a lot of events. I could have been wrong, but I just got the impression we didn't fit well based on the types of events organized by our region. My wife and I are 8-5 types at a fortune 50 company, and a fun weekend is something like taking the kids to the water park or having friends over for Rock Band - not wine tasting and concours events.

Did we just get a bad read on the local regional club? We're Peachstate.

Since 1985. I'm not much into the social aspects of our local chapter, but our local autox's require PCA membership. PCA also has a very good monthly mag (Panorama) and some dealers give parts discounts to PCA members.

Been a member for years. We have a great group in Kansas City with a diverse base. We meet every Saturday morning for breakfast. You see some wonderful cars, but there is no doubt that its the friendships that you build that make it worth while.

I joined when I bought my first Porsche in '07, but I've done nothing more than that. I've only been to one PCA track event and I've never done any of the social events. Mostly I just think it's worthwhile supporting the organization because having a strong owner and enthusiast community helps us all in the long run.

Panorama is impressive. Candidly, though, I never read them. I'm not much of a "magazine" person. I toss out my AOPA Pilot magazines without reading them, too.

Here in South Florida you have to be a member to see the Collier Collection...worth every penny.

I am a PCA member and benefit from its track events, information (Panorama, newsletters, emails) and the people. PCA is one of the oldest Porsche owners clubs in the world - 60 years this year.
