Default Porsche Driving Experience at Laguna Seca

PCNA ran a Porsche Driving Experience (PDE) event at Laguna Seca this weekend as part of the 3-day POC track event. The PDE had 4 cars - Cayman S, Panamera Turbo, Cayenne S and Cayenne Turbo. The autocross track was in the Laguna Seca inside paddock. It was a tight clockwise design with many high-G hairpins and a very fast S. In addition they offered 1-hour, fee-based, private coaching sessions in the same autocross track with a PSDS instructor. That was a great way to fine tune car control with the best.

The event had many activities contributing to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation. One of those was a parade lap on the LS track at 5:30PM. It turned out to be more than 1 lap - I drove 7 or 8 laps. The Corkscrew has to be driven to be understood for its quick left-right flick and sudden drop dynamics. It is a unique track feature.

Damn, but you make me wish I had retired closer to Laguna Seca.

Sounds like a great day, ADias.

Wish Porsche would hold events at Sebring. Seems like car events are always on the west coast at Laguna.

The PDE autocross was strictly on PSDS cars.

PSDS had a similar event at the Fontana (Auto Club) track at a POC event a couple of months ago. I went with my ex-g/f. We're still friends, she owns a 911 Targa and a Cayenne GTS, and she's a great driver - faster than me. We did the PSDS Masters class together last year. We both signed up for the 1 hour private session with an instructor. She drove a C4S cab with Brian Cunninham; I had Chris Hall in a P4S. We had a great time! Even in 4 days at PSDS we never spent much time on an Auto-X course, so it was really a good experience. I'd just bought my P4S, so I chose that car to drive as an opportunity to get to know it - on their tires and brakes!

If you're thinking about PSDS, this is a great intro and far cheaper than the trip to Birmingham!

the corkscrew kills me EVERYTIME.. i can never seem to get the right approach and make it out of there properly... always come in too slow and timid because u cant see over it.. and then once I'm at the top looking down i realize im going way too slow and lug it thru, the times i do go thru fast i realize I'm going too fast and end up cutting the next corner..

rest of the track is great, looks like u guys had fun!
