L.A. to San Francisco -- Anything Porsche related on the way ?
Hi,
I will be visiting L.A soon and will drive all the way up to San Francisco with my wife and son
I plan to quickly visit Laguna Seca racetrack when we are in Monterrey
Is there anything nice or strong related to Porsche in that region ?
Thanks for your input !

Contact me privately and I will tell you. I do not comment on Porsche roads on open forums.

Now that you asked...we have a few things to offer.
In the town of Oxnard is the infamous Mullin Museum--if you like beautiful French cars like Talbots, and Bugatti...
In Santa Barbara you can join us on the second Saturday morning of the month for the local PCA region breakfast--Sterns Wharf...8:30 am
Route 154--San Marcos Pass. A popular spot for the automotive magazines to shoot test cars. (It's on the way north).
If you are in a Porsche and ready for some Porsche roads, there is of course Rt 1. Contact me for others.

Guys, thanks for your nice feedback and friendly advise
To complement my post, I am on a visit to USA with my wife and son of 4 years. We will be renting a van (not a Pcar ), so spirited driving is not allowed...

From Wikipedia:
Cholame, California is an unincorporated community in San Luis Obispo County, California, USA. It sits within a mile of the San Andreas Rift Zone fault line at an elevation of 1,157 feet (351 m) above sea level and is located at 35°43′26″N 120°17′44″W / 35.72389°N 120.29556°W / 35.72389; -120.29556. Cholame is reached via State Route 41, just southwest of the junction of Route 46. Rainfall data from a nearby ranch shows that the area around Cholame only receives about eight to nine inches (229 mm) of rain in a normal year.
The town is best known as "the place" where James Dean died on September 30, 1955. However, Dean actually died at the intersection of State Highways 41 and 46, located one mile to the northeast, when college student Donald Turnupseed made a left turn without seeing Dean's Porsche approaching in the oncoming lane. On September 30, 2005, the 50th anniversary of Dean's death, a few hundred people gathered in Cholame to pay tribute to Dean. Cholame has a restaurant and a memorial to James Dean erected on the site in 1977 by wealthy Japanese businessman Seita Onishi at the base of a tree.

Just outside of Solvang is Fess Parker B&B, nice place. West of there is one of the best burgers around, Jamala Beach Park on the coast with a wicked road to the park and a dumpy little stand with one of the best burgers in the world. Free parking when you tell the rangers why you are there!
Porsche related, not really, but then again every road is your Porsche's friend!
Have fun!

They have realigned the roadways since 1955 so you really can't get to the exact location. However, the roads to GET to that area are spectacular for P-car driving. If northbound on 101 exit the freeway into Santa Margarita and follow route 58 to route 229 to route 41 (Shandon). Continue east from Shandon toward Kettleman City to get to Cholame. The monument is probably about 1-2 miles west of the actual site of the crash.

why not.
there are A LOT of very cool porsches, BIG wings that weekend.
POC is quite something.
you have to get up to see the cars, and smell the petrol fumes.
this is the biggest porsche race (non pro) in nor cal every year.
i think in 2008 craig stanton raced there with POC in a boxster.
