Bumper cover removal and installation is a one person job. I don't think too much will get behind the screens, but as you note, inevitably it will and the cover will have to come off.

You may or may not want to hear this, but the Zunsport grilles don't require removal of the bumper.

Wouldn't help him very much as they dont do 997.2 grilles.

There are a couple of sources for the grille kits which require front bumper removal for installation. These kits look identical to the mesh that Porsche puts on its GT cars (but doesn't offer for other Carreras, for some reason).
The Zunsport grilles, while easier to install, do not resemble the OEM mesh, as they sit "in" the openings as opposed to "behind" the openings.
It's personal preference since (I believe) ALL the different kits function the same.
