WOW! What a car! Its sound is intoxicating! and it's gorgous... not to mention SUPER FAST!

Not sure if I would pick this (GTO), or the 458, as I saw the 458 in Nurburgring and it sure is one of the best looking cars ever made!

As for Porsche vs. Ferrari... they're both GREAT cars and I don't think any car lover can dismiss one over the other.

Sure. A car guy never dismisses and always admires great cars. However... a hardcore 911 fan never lusts for anything else. The feeling of an engine hanging in the back and the characteristic driving dynamics of an 11 are unique. These days few understand this as these cars are mostly driven as executive commuter cars, typically driven on flat, multi-lane, freeways. Under those conditions the 911 is never discovered. However, those who know it are hooked for life.

Note: this is written high up on the Sierra Nevada, after a day of sublime, alpine twisty, high octane Porsche roads.

I have to admit, that rolling burnout about a 45 sec in was pretty sweet.

They are intoxicating--but Tony is right. It's hard to leave a car that will continue to run year after year. But one of these isn't bad, either! (612)

I've owned enough of both to know the only special about a Ferrari is in your mind, and that's how Ferrari wants it to be.

I love the 612,the service bills and the fact that I drive my car are deal breakers.

I quite like the GTO. It looks better than the 599.
I've always found the 612 to be to big. Prices in these 4 seaters haven fallen a lot.
the 458 Italia is the best looking F car since the 355.

Perhaps Ferrari is like a cabriolet. Everyone should own one at least once in their life.

This statement definitely applies to Porsche. Not too sure about Ferrari, Lambo or others.

At the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, when I went to the Exotics driving school a few weeks ago, I asked several of their instructors about their preferences and they mostly had the same opinion: when they get out in the mornings to warm up, they all go for the 911S. They consider it to be the most fun and involved car in their fleet -- which included Lambos, Ferraris, Aston, and R8.

I personally don't like the styling direction Ferrari has taken in the last few years. I thought the 355 and the 430 were very nice designs, but I don't really like their newest stuff. Of course, it's all personal and subjective.

I am not sure that is true either. Many lust for a 911 but few really get it to its core.

OH COME ON! Any true car lover would love to drive a Lambo or Ferrari! Gotto also add McLaren SLR, and Ford GT.

Have you ever been in one on a track? I was lucky enough to be in F430, Gallardo, Ford GT, and SLR on track and I can tell you that ALL were amazing cars, with quite a few differences between them all!

I love to have THEM ALL in my stable along side the 911... Only if I was Jay Leno!

I agree 100%. My only problem with Ferrari is nearest dealer is 400 mile one way trip. No Ferrari spec shops in Memphis. So pcar it is but one day I will own a Ferrari at least till it breaks then it's gone

The Ferrari dealer is less than 5 miles from my house, but I like my Gallardo (granted it has many mods including it is now RWD) as much as any Ferrari I owned. I was once brainwashed by the so called Ferrari mystic, well I am now cured, and see them as just another car, no magic powers, no soul (the most foolish statement I've ever heard made about a car) and the funny thing is that my company suppys FNA with certain things and they are well aware that the brand is what it is because of these things. I'm not saying that there are not great cars, some are, but, well I'll stop now.
