What is involved with purging the air from the cooling system?

I prefilled the radiator before I installed it to minimize trapped air. The system is self purging, meaning it will keep bringing the air in the expansion tank in the engine bay, so you could keep refilling it. So far I had to service it about 2 quarts of de-ioninzed water. This is all Im doing.
*I had the car's front tilted high up when I did this so minimum coolant/water mix came out, approx 1 gal. thats all I had to replace.

Now, the proper way is to use the vaccum tool when replacing the whole system's fluid.

Which Run group were you in Bruce? I was at the Tech Line too every morning doing wheel lug torque checks.

There is a tool to extract all air from the system. Not using it can cause serious trouble.

How do the coolant hoses connect? How are they tightened. Also, I noticed it looks like the jack stands are on the suspension joints - true?

Default Center Radiator

Nicely done Mike! I would take your car to LMN (you have likely already checked with Lutzo) and have him put the vacuum on the system. I had him remove my antifreeze and replace with water and three bottles of water wetter. It takes quite a bit of time to be sure the air is removed from the system.

In my car water temp stays more or less at 175 mark or little above most of the time but oil gets quite hot on mid-summer days.

Do a search in this forum....."water temp". Not trying to be rude but there is a wealth of info.

Anyone knows why 3rd radiator was required for X51 kit? Is it to accomodate extra heat at higher RPMs?

When you say higher RPMs I assume that you are referring to the redline moving from 7300 to 7400. That would not be enough I would think to make a difference. Recall that the heads are different, and I would imagine Porsche did thermal studies that concluded that the engine in that configuration would benefit in some regions (hot parts of the world) by the additional cooling provided by that cooler.

not trying to be rude too, but do not interfere when question wasn`t addressed to you. I want to know fresh impressions from first hand user who just got this done and it is not about water but about oil.

3 bottles? Isn't one bottle good for 3-5 gallons?

I ran White Group all three days. Must have missed each other at Tech. I remember seeing your stand out car at the track and then when I got home and onto Rennlist it hit home - oh him!

I did notice my oil temps climb really high on track, did the 3rd rad really help at all with oil temps? (yip I know it's a water rad)

I was just at a trackday and noticed my car's temp got a little high. I've been thinking about this 3rd radiator ever since. Thank you for the detailed DIY.
