This is a great guide. I wish I'd read it instead of the other one on the forum. I'd written lots of notes to help other owners with the installation only to find they were all mentioned here.

I realize this is a somewhat old post but very helpful. I sincerely thank the OP for taking the time to document and post the DIY.

I had a side questions related to the grill screens. Does the 3rd radiator kit include the necessary retaining grill to accommodate a center screen? I know on our aero kit cars from the factory we need to purchase a center grill retaining frame in order to install a mesh screen as it's of course blocked off otherwise.

I wanted to protect my radiators by installing the Rennline screens but need to order a $95 retaining grill to have the car accept the center screen. If the 3rd radiator kit includes this, it's a no brainer to install it at the same time and the kit is effectively only $150 in my eyes.

YES 'cause thats where its supposed to eject the hot air. Also this is like an air scoop from moving forward so the air needs to exist somewhere which those holes provide.

If u dont want to remove the bumper you could just draw the rectangular holes and from each of their corners, drill a hole big enough to insert a small wall saw and just saw off rectangular holes.

from this picture, kinda estimate their exact position so they line up with the kit's down/exit ducting.

Just be careful not to drill through the trunk decking.

You would need the GT3 specific front radiator kit (more expensive) which is designed to vent upwards. This unit is designed to flow out through the bottom of the car and thus won't work with the GT3 vent on the top of the bumper.

It looks like if your planning on installing a GT3 bumper, and want a radiator kit to go with a 997.1. You are going to need the following:

99610603775 - Radiator
99750448790 - Upper frame
99750448581 - Lower frame
99959188202 (x2) - Speed nut
90037803501 (x2) - Bolt
99907204801 (x2) - Bolt
99908444701 (x2) - Bolt
93011343000 (x4) - Rubber mount
99757514190 - Air duct
99710656500 - Radiator adapter
99710663890 - Water supply hose
99710663992 - Water return hose

There you go! ECS to the rescue for your GT3 radiator setup.

Off hand, do you have the same list of part numbers for non-GT3 third radiator. For an aero kit car for instance.

Thanks!

Porsche actually has a kit that includes everything needed to update your 997 cooling system to the 3-radiator system used in the Tiptronic models. There is no difference if the car is equipped with a aero kit package or not. This kit includes everything shown below:

Center radiator
Mounting bracket with bolts, and speed nuts
Air duct with trim for front bumper
Intake and return hoses for radiator

Thank you for providing these part numbers, did a quick look and the parts bill is over $1000. Much more economical to do the 997 version kit at $250!

I will most likely just cut into the lower section of the just like the op!
