Default NASCAR Driver Arrested -- Running Fm Police

It was reported that a prominent NASCAR driver in his personal Corvette was arrested the other day for attempting to evade the police. Apparently he was the subject of a stop attempt by police for not having a front plate on his Corvette and he decided to run, taking his car up to 140 mph until he was finally apprehended. He will spend the next 30 days in jail. And I had heard that the front plate thing was not enough to stop someone by itself--apparently not true in today's cash-strapped California.

"The suspect was driving so fast he blew his engine in the Chevy Corvette and had to pull over,"

Unfortunately, this idiot did his high speed run in the rain and right by my house. Chase started in San Clemente and ended up in La Jolla (I think).

I am absolutely not suggesting that running from the police is a good idea but this moron clearly had evaded the police and could have pulled over and gotten off the 5 freeway a dozen times before he blew his motor up.

Total jackass. I think pulling anyone over for no front plate is insane but driving that fast, in the rain, on the 5 freeway is a recipe for disaster. Thank God this fool didn't hurt anyone.

What an idiot!

Anyway, James was not a National NASCAR drive. He was a regional driver back int eh early 80's and mostly ran at the Ascot Raceway....just a local guy and not want most people think of when they think of a real NASCAR driver.

Not true even in the California of 5 years ago. I was picked out of a line of half a dozen cars doing 45mph on a rural road by a CHP for nothing more than the lack of a front plate. His smirk, attitude, and the circumstances led me to believe that it was simply a matter of getting the guy in the fancy Porsche as there are many better revenue opportunities along this particular stretch. It's the only time I've ever been cited for lack of a front plate in 40 years.
