I was a scrawny, 80lb, ten year old in elementary school when McDonald's introduced the "Chicken McNugget." My last name is McNett.
It took my classmates about three nanoseconds to make the aural connection between "McNett" and "McNugget" and that was the end of that story. Sometimes you just have to sway with the wind and accept what life delivers. I embraced the nickname that wasn't going to go away and I've been "McNugget" (later shortened to just "Nugget") ever since.
I don't even like the things. I'm more of a Chick-Fil-A guy.
LOL. Cool story... at least not too bad a nickname!
Hurley Haywood, who you may know is currently the Chief Driving Instructor at the Porsche Sport Driving School as well as winner of many races over his career in Porsche's had this to say about AWD:
"It maintains it's performance over a longer period of time. On a race track, the Carrera 2 would be faster for one or two laps. But over a five lap period, the Carrera 4 would be quicker because it manages it's tires better and allows you to lay down power through all four wheels."
The perfect example of a 911 will one day be the 997.2 C2S PDK Coupe.
Simplistic perfection.
PDK and simplistic cannot be used in one sentence... there's a lot of computers involed in PDK... not sure how that's simpler than a manual transmission?!
I wouldn't have searched for it myself as I didn't care about the debate...but once someone else did the work of googling for me I found it interesting and I learned a few things about the history of Four wheel drives.
One thing that hasn't been mentioned is that the AWD cars are primarily(I think 80%) RWD until tires start to slip. Only then does more power get transferred to the front axle.
If I was a great driver I probably would have bought a 2, but I'm not, and I'd bet I can drive faster in the twisties than all of the 2 drivers out there with the exception of those that either track their cars or are experienced at driving fast.
People are always 'experts' that quote the times professional drivers have achieved. The real world is often quite different.
Bought my 08 c4s with areo kit from Brumos which Hurley put the first 75miles on. The C4s is the best looking, imo of all the 997, just look at it from the side or rear, my last pcar was a 87 911 with the same basic curves
