Default Have a question on PSE option when building a 911s

1) while building the 911 s, I am considering the PSE, you tube demos on PSE sound very good
1)I heard there a separate button in the console to switch it off and On independent of Sport chrono button ?

2) I heard it is more expensive to get it later, about 4k vs 2800 when building the car from factory and does the install later be specified with the dedicated pse button?

Thanks

If you don't have sport chrono (which you want), then I believe there is a separate button just for the PSE. Otherwise the factory install operates PSE with the sport chrono button.

If you get PSE later (not factory installed), it would cost more with the full install, less if you installed only the mufflers but didn't wire it so that it was on all the time; and maybe close to the same or slightly more if you wired it with it's own switch independent of sport chrono.

That may have been true with earlier models but on the 997.2 (2009-) the factory installed PSE is operated with a completely separate button from the Sport or Sport Plus buttons that come with sport Chrono. In fact, the sport chrono buttons have no effect on PSE; it can be enabled only with the separate PSE button. BTW, casaforte9, I have the PSE. IMHO, it is a must have. The button to activate the system is part of the aftermarket installation but if you have any plans to do this at all, just get PSE up front when you order the car.

Ooops, sorry. This is a good change for the better.

Wait a second. Is the PSE standard on 09 997.2s with Sport chrono?

Another benefit that if we build our car with PSE from the factory, the PSE will also be covered by the new car warranty.

Thanks Mike for the info, I agree pse sound is very nice and it can be shutoff when needed although I never heard it in person

How is the sound with PSE off? like stock?

rijowysock,
I think parts and labor is close to 4k if one gets the pse installed after the porsche delivery

Hello all from Indonesia

I was told by the local dealer that it is possible to install PSE on 997.2 later with the switch and all that, however they would not be able to hook it up to ECU. Meaning probably it is just the sound boost only without any effect on sport chrono mode. Is this true?

BTW, just checked out my friends Panamera 4s exhaust note on PSE mode on last weekend weekend rawrrrr, it is definitely a must guys!

Cheers

Reading Rennlist years ago convinced me to get the PSE. Otherwise I would have had the most boring sounding Porsche "911" on the planet. Sure, it's $2500 for noise. I think it should have been done that way from the start--but you know Porsche. A la carte this and that.

The PSE is not cheap to install later.

Here's a video of a dealer demonstrating the sport exhaust sound of a C4S with X51 power kit

Factory PSE is under DME control, add on can be installed with a complete off/on switch, (your control).
You should be able to get a PCA discount 10-15%, if no other specials apply.
A 20% Porsche discount may still be available, through your dealer, till the end of this month.

The winter discount ended 3/31/10.

It's much cheaper and easier to have in as part of the factory build than add it on later.
