Default 998 pics

Hey gang,

Don't know how real these are but they look very close to what's under all the covers here:

Thoughts?

Is it just me, or does that look like a minor 997 facelift? Like a 997.3? Must be a lot of internal changes to warrant an internal type change to 991.

The first two seems to be close to the real thing. As always evolution rather than revolution, definitely engine will be moved a bit forward for better weight distribution and the wing design will take a big depature from classics!

I read in a couple of places that the new model is lower and wider. So if that's the case, the car will probably handle differently.

It's obvious from a couple of the black mule pictures I've seen that the front windshield is angled differently. If you do a profile comparison you'll see that it's many degrees more horizontal than the 997.

Also, there is some mention that the engine has shifted a bit forward.

I suspect we'll know by the late summer auto show season.

Later,

I like it so far. The retro-look door mounted side mirrors look good. These photos agree with one in this month's Road and Track, which says it will be a 2012 model released in 2011. They also suggest the S will have 400 hp.

Lower, wider, and more horses. Doesn't sound bad!

It seems to me that there is considerably more front overhang. Or not?

Better car? Sure. But will it be worth the $50k to upgrade to get door mounted mirrors, a couple inches in back and a different looking spoiler?
Unlikely.

That's what I saw also.

Oh well, I guess we will know in a few months.

Wish they'd go back to the gun trigger door handles.

I love the fact that it's evolution vs revolution. From the 60s to the mid 80s the outside hardly changed. That's why the resale value was good and people always had a nice car. 911 to 964 was a huge jump but then 996 and 997 were even bigger jumps. 997.2 is continuity and this one looks really subtle also. If this is true, I will be really pleased with where they are going.

Wonder if the new model will take it's interior design cues from the Panamera just like the new Cayenne has. Love that center console!

I hope not. Its great in the Pany but its also a bigger car. It would feel too cramp in a 911.

I dont like the rear lites as the make the butt look too big.
I like the mirrors and clear indicator lites.
Yes, I would welcome the trigger style handles too.
