Posting this in the 997 forum . Hoping to get a wider view.

Have a appt. to Order 2011 Turbo S tomw. Dealer has a April Build for a Coupe or May build for Cabriolet.

I have never owned a Cabriolet in any car. I have a 2009 Targa 4 S at this time love the open top. I am leaning heavily toward Cabriolet but would love to hear from Porsche owners who have owned a Cab. Are there any downsides I am missing?

At this time I am going with Ice Blue with Black and Blue Int. Thinking of Blue top or would a Black top Hold up better? My second chioce would be Ruby Red with Black / White Int with Black top.

I will not be Tracking Car. This car will be a toy weekend car. it will live in Garage will be very unlikely to be driven in Rain only if caught in a shower.

I figure this will be my only chance to order a car of this Cal.

I sold my cab to make room for my GT3 and I desperately miss it when the weather is nice. If you're a "convertible" person, then nothing else really scratches that itch. I've just been spending so much time at the track that it made sense to move into something that had a roof. I also get to borrow my girlfriend's Miata when I'm completely overcome by the need for sunshine and fresh air.

If you're not a "convertible" kind of person, though, you'd hate it. Nobody can really answer that but you.

First and foremost I'm usually going too fast for a Cab. No such thing as Cab use on the highway for me, I like things quiet. I also don't like to show off; like to stay low key. If this were SoCal then maybe. Otherwise, where top-down driving is rare people stare at you thinking whatever they think. BTW, got my convertible top slashed in college: that impressed me. If you do go Cab there's good reason to go black because lighter colors look "un-new" faster. Just my two cents, other people will disagree. No biggie.

I have 09 C4S and 09 C2S cab. I like the drive in the cab much better, it's more fun with the top down but Im in SoCal. GL with your decision.

The only cab/roadster I've ever owned was an '07 Boxster S. It was a lot of fun driving with the top down in the right weather, and it was very sporty hearing that exhaust note out in the open. On the downside, although driving in cold weather wasn't a big deal (just bundle up, crank up the heater, and turn on the seat warmers) I didn't enjoy cooking in the sun on hot days. Keeping the top properly maintained was extra work. And of course you're dealing with a car that has more weight, less structural rigidity, and a little less performance than an equivilant coupe although with a Turbo S that might not be a signifcant issue!

I guess it boils down to the fact that I'm not really a cab person. If it were me I'd order the Turbo S coupe. OTOH, the decision to buy a cab (or any Porsche really) is an emotional one so go with what feels right. You really can't go wrong either way.

My location allows for a cab and I really like them when the weather is good. Do you want a cab this time? If so, buy the cab.

i have taken the boxster out for more "drives" than i ever did with the 4S coupe. the sound, smell and feel with the top down is great.

took it out one night with a full moon - amazing with my son along.

It is a TOTALLY PERSONAL CHOICE!

The only logics are:

1. If you track the car a lot, Cab is not ideal
2. If where you live is cold more than it's hot, Cab is not ideal
3. If you are totally performance oriented, the extra weight and flex of Cab is not ideal
4. If you got a bald head, Cab is not ideal --> [According to Jeremy Clarkson!]

these are all good perspectives, IMHO

for me, the turbo S is all about performance and with that in mind, i'd go a "pure" with the couple.

Is it me, or red calipers just look SO MUCH BETTER than yellow! I think PCCB should come in red too!
