Default What's a good price for 2010 C4S Coupe?

I'm looking to get into a C4S Coupe.

Currently the dealership is offering about a 4.5% discount off MSRP.

The car I want is in the "Porsche" pool in Georgia meaning they can request it to be delivered within 2 days.

This is my first Porsche purchase so I'm not familiar with the typical discounts to expect of MSRP.

Knowing that it's not sitting at the dealership costing them money, it seems they could do better on the price.

What do you think?

Sticker is 110k. Offering it to me for 105k.

I'd be interested in hearing thoughts on this as well.

I have been searching for a new 997S, either 09 or 10. It seems many dealers took the trunk money for the remaning 09s and started the warranty early, so a $15K to $20K discount is not out of line. Since Porsche has slowed down the number of cars for 2010, I would think they will be trying to create a shortage of inventory thus making the discounts harder to come by.

There are a lot of 2010 C4S coupes and cabs sitting on dealer lots, so I think you have some leverage. If you were looking for a C2S coupe that is NOT black, then you would have less leverage because there are very few of them out there right now, relative to the number of C4S cars.

Personally, for a 2010, I would start with 9.5% discount offer and not go below an 8.0% discount. After all, we still are in a soft economy. But you need to assess how much you "value" that particular car. If your number is a 6.0% (or what ever % you deem appropriate) and you get the car for that price, then get the car and be happy.

After you purchase the car others will tell you that they got a X.XX% discount, but don't let that influence how you feel about the deal you got.

S coupes are hard to come by right now, but all of my new 09's are at +/- $20k off. S cabs are easier to come by. For 2010, allocations are so far below previous levels. I do have a 2010 4s coupe and 4s cab, but no S coupes on the ground.

There's no question you can do better than 4.5% discount. Economy sucks - it's a buyer's market. I'll bet there are leftover '09's out there that can be bought right.

If I was buying one, a good price would be around $87-50

If i was selling one, probably closer to $279,674-99

Thanks for the insight. I echo your information that there are fewer cars at the dealers. I am in the market for a 2010 997.2S coupe, and is getting a little frustrating to find a car with the options that I like.

If I need to wait a few months to order a 997.2S coupe, I might be lured to seek different choices.

Is there any insight of why the allocation is lower? I thought Porsche is out to make as much money as they can... Is the allocation being switched to other countries, or the factory resources are switched to make other models like the Panamera, or Porsche is holding the horses for some changes of models to come early?

Thanks again for any insights.

With best regards,

Porsche might be out to make as much money they can, but they can't sell cars when people aren't buying. Last year was a tough year for a lot of car manufacturers. I would assume after having to place special money on 2009s, (which is rare for Porsche) they used it as an opportunity to limit production for a while until the cycle changes. They can limit the allocations to dealers which translates into few cars and higher gross on those cars. Having a lot of cars sitting on a lot or at the port isn't profitable for anyone. I am sure this will change later this year. I would also assume this might help the used prices rise as well.

Just my two cents....

There aren't many C4S on dealers lots. If you can live with the configuration when you find one, you might get a deal (15% off or something) and you should jump on it. If you don't find one you like, don't expect a dealer to be getting one in that you like and you can deal on. Ordering one (and getting the allocation..like 4 months from now), you might get 5%-10% off as the dealer is looking to cover some overhead. Yes, the economy sucks but Porsche isn't sending cars here and dealers are not ordering cars here to make no money on them.

Clubrcr, spot on, but i would add, not only is production down overall, but I think they are sending more cars to Russia and China right now.

OP, if you get 15% off, its an 09, I'd bet.

axhoaxho, what options do you want? i have one in production currently.

I am looking for a Macadamia Metallic with Black comfort memory seats. The must have options for me are PSE (I know, that is a rare option, but I really love the PSE in my 997.1S), 6-speed manual transmission, PCM Navigation, Chrono Sport Package Plus, Heated Seats, Bluetooth, and Bose Sound Package.

With best regards,

An '09 C2S coupe, black of course, went for 18% below MSRP in Rocklin, CA a week or two ago.

Dealers have to be looking at that type of stuff and be willing to do better than 4.5% on a '10 C4S.

PSE is easily installable should you find a rig without only that.

I keep getting amazing prices for parts from Sunset Imports in Oregon.

Just sayin'.
