Are you saying this car puts the Box in Boxster?

It's a tempting package, although, I don't fit in the Boxster/Cayman. My C2S works well for the tall.

(I am considering this BTW )
Really? Current awful weather notwithstanding, living in S. CA would allow most of us to drive a car like this for the better part of 90+% of the year.

I literally never drove my old S2000's with the top up except when moving them in or out of the garage to wash them and I never used the A/C and rarely used the stereo.

I'd love one of these little jewels and would happily pick one up if I were considering a drop top.

Except that most of us literally can't get into a Lotus comfortably. I shopped an Elise a few years back and found ingress/egress nearly impossible with the top up. Never mind the fact that based on the crashes I've seen, I personally (no scientific data other than my gut) think the Exige and Elise are death traps on American roads. The Boxster Spyder is a REAL car, with REAL safety systems and has held up very, very well in accidents.

I think it's the only good looking Boxster. No offense to Boxster owners meant. Just personal preference. I tend to prefer coupes, but I think this is one good looking car.

Default looks fast

but not really.... all this glitz and only a shy quicker then a Boxter S....pass

better if it were 10K more and at least as fast as a 997 (none S) IMO

For the naysayers, take a look at the current issue of R&T...the Spyder is faster through the slalom than every car they've tested in the Road Test Summary, with exception of the GT2 and GT3, both of which are 1mph faster on Cup tires.

Handling is what the Spyder is all about. That it does the quarter in 12.8 at 110 is just a bonus. It is no slouch.

I would dare say on a fairly twisty road course, with equal ability drivers, a Spyder would spank the crap out of a non-S 911, and most likely an S as well.

The only time it would not is if there were long high-speed straights. And even then it would be a very close match.

On a technical course I believe a Spyder would give a GT3 a very good run for the money and it would also be very close match. I would not place a bet either way.

Low-weight, mid-engine, lots of tire and brake= quicker than you might think.

Mooty- you have raced everything- comments?

So why'd you get AC, full leather, bose and heated seats in your current car? There's a bunch of weight and creature comforts right there.

Not arguing that its not a great car. But I'd never use it. I'd much rather have 177 lbs of extra weight and an awesome Boxster S that I would use. Its not like the S is a fat gutless pig as it is.

"all this glitz" ? don't you have a carrera dressed up like a turbo with faux-painted pccb's? glitz, perhaps?

not sure where i see how this criticism reconciles itself. pardon my cognitive dissonance
