The best finishing Mustang finished 4th right behind the TRG 997..what are you talking about? The E92 M3's with their V8's are going to win it all this year unless GrandAM does something about it. Ford has to run a restrictor plate in their cars as they were putting down almost 450+hp. The rules will probably get changed as the E92 M3s are just smoking fast with the high winding S65 Powerplant. Mustangs at least beat the Crapmaro.

The results..

13 GS 1 Bacardi / Plumb Rum Bum Racing / BMW M3 Coupe 66 1:59.825 63 93.455 RumBum.com
2 48 GS 2 Espenlaub / Putman Fall-Line Motorsports / BMW M3 Coupe 66 2:00.447 65 93.454
3 41 GS 3 Miller / Pumpelly TRG / Porsche 997 66 2:01.678 36 93.165 Colo Logistics
4 37 GS 4 Gue / Seafuse JBS Motorsports / Ford Mustang GT 66 2:02.463 15 93.113
5 6 GS 5 Bell / Bucknum Stevenson Motorsports / Camaro GS.R 66 2:02.552 55 93.098 Stevenson Automotive Group, Sunoco
6 45 GS 6 Borcheller / Hendricks Fall-Line Motorsports / BMW M3 Coupe 66 2:01.112 37 93.013 Fall-Line, Stable One
7 60 GS 7 Mason / Winchester Rehagen Racing / Ford Mustang GT 66 2:01.963 15 92.998 Columbus Truck & Equipment
8 9 GS 8 Carter / Plumb Stevenson Motorsports / Camaro GS.R 66 2:02.651 44 92.938 Stevenson Automotive Group, Sunoco
9 59 GS 9 Caddell / Wilden Rehagen Racing / Ford Mustang GT 66 2:02.984 11 92.807 Mustang Challenge
10 06 GS 10 Musser / Orr Momentum Race Group / Camaro GS.R 66 2:03.886 54 92.779

3 Mustangs in the top 10...are you sure you are looking at the same results? Mustangs run under the Continental Tire series with the GS designation. Oh and by the way the Mustang has won the championship 3 out of the last 5 years.

before we get into a dickfight about the race cars, keep in mind that you're comparing factory cars with with tube-framed purpose built race cars. apples and oranges.

few will question that as the rules are in grand-am / continental, that the mustangs and camaros add a lot of fun to the mix and are highly competitive in the series.

The results you've posted, in response to a question about how the Mustangs did at Daytona last weekend, are for the Florida 200, a 66 lap sprint race held on Friday. It doesn't feature the same level of equipment as found at the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona or the Grand-Am series in general. In fact, there were no Mustangs in the Rolex 24 hour race.

You know, I parked next to a new Shelby GT350 last weekend; and
they are certainly a different type of owner....

I must say this has been an amusing thread to follow. Putting aside for a moment the agricultural suspension under Mustangs brendorenn is correct. You can't compare road cars with purpose built race cars.

But those links to the Top Gear episode were great. Kept me up for a couple of hours watching them. Shame Jeremy didn't grab a 997 at some stage though.

This post would be better on NAGTROC, We all know the 911 is dead and the GT-r is king now.

Gotcha..I thought he was talking about the GS division which Mustangs do compete and they did quite well and they won the championship last year. The fact they didn't compete in the 24hr. Rolex really doesn't matter in my eyes.

Jeremy doesn't care for Porsches in general. Hates the "dated" styling and calls them "beetles". One recent episode pitted a GT2 against a Lamborghini Murcielago. He spent most of the segment slamming the Porsche and praising the Lambo and talking about how much quicker it was. When it came time to have the Stig race them on the track they showed the Lambo run but not the GT2's. Back in studio, Richard (who owns a 997 C2S) asked how the GT2 did. Jeremey hemmed and hawed and then literally burned the GT2 timing slip on stage. Clearly it had been quicker.

Where were the Mustangs at Le Mans 24 for the last 25+ years ... Oh... that's right ... they didn't even have a car to compete... too many corners I suspect!

Doh!

This whole pissing contects is truly pointless ... really does it really matter who's dick is longer here ... and shouldn't this dick discussion be taking place on the Mustang Dick forum and not here where frankly no one cares (well at least I dont) about Mustangs ... ?

Not sure what race you were watching but there was NOT a single Mustang - Ford powered DP's were there but no Mustangs at the 24.

LOL Mustangs and Porsches

If only two more different cars could be found. I can't remember the last time I heard someone weighing the pros and cons in a debate over which car they were going to purchase.

The Mustang is a great car -- if you're an 18 year old high school senior with a buzz cut who's planning on going to trade school in the fall. Nothing wrong
with that.
