So, I know a little something about mustangs, and I haven't seen a Shelby mustang smack the **** out of anything lately.

The factory Ford mustangs, on the other hand, are doing great in motorsports.
Why on earth would you take a Roush over a Shelby? Unless you're talking about the P-51, they are not that impressive, hardly any engine work in them instead just a slightly improved suspension and a body kit. There's a reason they have horrible resale value.

You had a GT500 but never managed to win a race? Can you drive? You should know first hand that you had a 10 second car out of the box (with proper tires/tune)

You should also know that the new Shelby Mustangs are the most powerful mustangs ever made. I don't remember 540 hp Shelby Mustang in the sixties...so to the guy who calls them "wannabe", I think you're confused.

^ that's just a dumb thing to say. slap a big enough supercharger and a race suspension on a kia and it'll beat a factory non-modified car.

for the record, i like Ford, but i'm not a fan of this car.

plus, it looks too gangsta for me.

People either hate it or love it.

It is over the top, but I like the dual exhaust pipes in the back and the 550 hp 5.0 V8. It will be lighter than the GT500.

I love Mustangs actually...but the GT350 is more money than the 2011 GT500 that is coming out buy $25k. Not to mention it is down right hideous. The 2011 GT500 gets the al. block 5.4L DOHC motor and is much nicer along with the new EPAS system will shave over 120lbs off of the nose of the GT500 bringing the weight down to the 3750lb range as long as you don't order the Mach 1000 which adds 70lbs.. BTW, the GT500 is Ford built not by Shelby. In fact the QC at Shelby is crap..have you ever taken a look at the Shelby GTs that were out a few years ago? The hoods fit like crap, the hoodpins were all jacked up and the stipes on most of the cars bubbled near the fake hood scoop. I'd pass...

For those of you who like normally aspirated..the new GT will have a 412hp 5.0L 4V TiVCT. This car is going to rock for $30k base..and a rumored Boss 302 will be coming out with close to 450hp which would put the 5.0 V8 at 90hp/litre...not bad for what should base at $40k.

Don't take this as Mustang bashing as I love the new S197 Mustangs and the 2010's are just that much better..

For those of you who think a new Mustang can't handle are really thinking of Mustangs from 10+ years ago. The new ones have won a couple of Koni GrandAm championships over the 997 (3.6) as well as E46 M3's. Although the new E92 M3s are going to be very formidable this year.

Does it have the rear air-intake openings like on other Mustangs I've seen? So hard to see from the pics in the link...

Here's a video of Roush Stage 3 v. GT500.

I would probably take a Trak Pak Roush if I were to choose today.

I haven't won any races b/c I dont street race, and Im not a professional race car driver. I certainly held my own at track events at Lime Rock, Monticello, and NJMP in the GT500.

A "10" second car. Sure at the drag strip. I've drivin at Englishtown many times and Island Dragway. I used to be in into 1/4 times, but why settle for a 10 second thrill driving in a straight line, when you can run for 20-30 minutes at a time making turns?

Maybe you misunderstood, I'm a huge mustang fan, just not a fan of the new GT350. And to clarify, I think it would have been better if Ford made it at their factory alongside the GT500.

Jeremy Clarkson is the also the guy who tried to claim the Shelby GT500 is underpowered because a dyno said it had 440 rwhp, he doesn't understand the difference between dyno rwhp and SAI hp.

The Roush Trak pak is a sweet ride, I agree.

The 2007-2009 GT500 suspension is pitiful, no doubt about it. The 2010 addressed it. I personally put on a Griggs suspension with a Watts Link and the car is completely glued to the road in the turns and highly stable at speeds over 140 mph. What draws me to the Shelby is the potential, everyone knows a blower swap, tune and pulley brings in 700-900hp, safely. The bottom end is forged and the car can daily drive it all day long. Not many cars out there for 47k that can say that.

I can't wait for the 2011 Mustang GT. This 5.0 V8 Coyote engine with it's 7000rpm redline and 412 hp is going to be awesome. I would love to see a twin turbo on this new engine for the next GT500. I've heard the GT500 is keeping the alluminum block 5.4 though.

It's all about flash vs. substance. If one wants to project a pimp's image and go fast, then buy a Corvette for half the money of my C2S. There are many cars that are faster and cheaper, but none provide the understated style, comfort and elegance of a 911.

This should make the Hot Wheel people happy - designer (Larry Wood) was brought on board from Mattel where he'd created numerous Hot Wheel models, including the pint sized GT350. He did the mid-60's look on this car.

I wish they would ditch the 5.4L with its long stroke and get into a high winding unit. The 6250rpm limit in the car is so unsophisticated, Ford needs to move to DI and the 5.0L engine with a turbo.

Like I said I love Mustangs...I am considering ditching the 997S for a Mustang GT believe it or not. I miss normally aspirated V8s and the GT with 412hp with the Mustangs new Brembo package along with the aftermarket can be an awesome bang for the buck.

Dude there is no comparison here...first off the GT500 vert doesn't even have the suspension from the Coupe in addition to the over 4klb curb weight of the vert. Not to mention they are comparing it to a coupe.

Also the GT500 has Brembo brakes in 14" when he says there is nothing done to the brakes.

The new 2011 GT500 will have a much taughter suspension and quite a bit lighter than the 2010 Coupe due to the EPAS and Al. block. Do I wish it had an IRS yes I do..but in reality the IRS is better on the street but on a smooth race track the live axle is doing just fine in GrandAM beating the likes of Porsche and BMW. A lot of this was due to the fact the Mustang was allowed to run the 5.0L cammer motor but this has changed this year as the 5.0L is available in the "Coyote" platform now in the run of the mill Mustang GT.

If you knew anything about cars you would know that Shelby takes the factory car and turns into a purebred racecar which would annihilate 911 like it was a VW bitch.
So how did they do against the 911's at Daytona last weekend? Oh... that's right... they didn't even have a car that could compete... even Chevy had a couple of Camaros there....
