A Cayenne V8 powered DP wins the Rolex 24 overall! This again proves Cayenne is a Porsche too.
911 GT3RSR take the 2nd and 3rd GT positions.

My mistake re the 911 GT cars racing at the Rolex 24 not being RSRs. They almost won though. The Mazda and the Camaro are very modified cars. They are far more distant from production cars than the Cup racing here is from the production GT3.

PAG acknowledges the Rolex 24 win - see it HERE.
"Action Express Porsche-powered Riley Wins Rolex 24
Porsche Power Succeeds at the Rolex 24 at Daytona as Action Express Racing Porsche Riley Wins Overall; TRG Porsche 911 GT3 Cup Entries Second and Third in GT
Mechanical problems, bad luck, and on-track incidents push Porsche 911 GT3 Cup teams off the top step of the Rolex GT podium; Broken driveshaft, engine ills ruin Brumos Porsche’s chance to repeat
Using a veteran driver line-up including Ryan Dalziel, Mike Rockenfeller, Joao Barbosa, and Terry Borcheller, and support from a veteran team, Brumos Racing, the Action Express Racing Porsche-powered Riley upset the pre-race favorites to win the 48th running of the Rolex 24 at Daytona.
The engine is a Porsche Cayenne-based V8 built as a independent project and mated to a Riley chassis."

Great win for Porsche, but that has to be one of the less attractive looking racing cars I've seen.
Cayenne owners are sure to be delighted with this new found bragging right. Being a former '93 RX-7 twin turbo owner, I have to give kudos to Mazda and the Speedsource RX-8 team for the class win.

Blame that on the Grand-Am series which mandates the near-cookie cutter design of their prototype cars. The influence of NASCAR (owners of Grand-Am) can be seen in many ways including the ridiculous rules which drop a full course yellow for several laps every time one of the cars hiccups on track.

I'm happy that a Porsche powered car won Rolex outright. Now I just wish they'd get back to the business of winning Le mans.
