Default 997 vs Cayenne!

Just kidding! Im in a Cayenne loaner w/ a 3.6L DFI 6 w/ 290hp. Is this the same 3.6L engine in the Non S 997 w/ 345hp? If so, is this just politics?
Do I have to much time on my hands?!

No.

The 6-cylinder engine in the Cayenne is a V-6; while the 3.6 in the base 997 is a flat-6.

The Cayenne engine is from the VW family.

Dealer service should NOT give Cayennes to 997 owners as loaners!

I was totally unimpressed since the Cayenne felt like I was driving a truck in comparison.

It weighs as much as a truck; however, the Cayenne TT will make you feel like you are driving a large car due to the greater HP.

That's because they're trying to sell you one.

It's the best-handling truck I've driven for sure. Would love to own one, but with all the reliability nightmare stories from owners, I won't touch one without a 10-year factory warranty!

We had an 04 Cayenne that was bone stock. Other than the problem with the rear window release switch it was rock solid.
We'd probably still have it but I needed something to tow the SC with. It was a great car.

I'm sorry. I was just kidding. I mean ANY non-equivalent loaner car feels like a truck or otherwise inadequate when your 911 (or other two seater P-car) is getting repaired.

Good point though. Dealers loaning Cayennes hoping to sell one to you.

These are great loaners when you don't own a SUV or truck and need an occassional utility vehicle...like those times you need to move a bunch of stuff in your storage unit or need to make a run to Home Depot/Lowes for dirt and mulch and don't want to mess up the trunk in the 911

You're lucky they gave you a Cayenne as a loaner. The last time I dropped off my car at the dealer for an alignment, I got an '09 Camry.

I got a Cayenne S as a loaner from Pepe Porsche in White Plains. No disrespec to owners, but man that car stinks. Can't hold candle to my LX570 in creature comforts and pot hole smoothing and no I'm sorry, it does not drive like a Porsche, let alone a sports sedan. It's def an SUV w/ huge body lean on curves. And what's up w/ the driver seat? It's rock hard in all the wrong places and I was in agony less than 5 minutes in the seat. Why didnt Porsche make it easy on itself and plop the 911 seats in the Cayenne? My C4S seats are the most comfortable car seats I ever sat in, bar none (and an impatient douche that I am, I've been in many a car seats.)

Wife has an 08 Cayenne S and in over two years of ownership the only issue has been a rattle in the dash. Not trying to defend an ugly car but it was far more reliable than my 997 was. The early beta cars are the only ones you need to avoid as an entire class, the 08+ (there was no 07) seem to be a pretty good product. However, the V6 powered one doesn't have enough go for a SUV that heavy and I am not willing to drive a SUV in the manner that a TT allows.

Of course, the X5 and similiar offerings provide way more lux items for the price point since Porsche follows its everything is optional model for even this type of vehicle.
