Is a 2005 with round headlights a true 997?

This is too funny. The seller has to be the first guy in history to not know what model Porsche he owns.
Now the big question, is he asking 996, or 997 money. If it's priced as a 996, buy it quick!

Funny! My car too was orginally delivered by Euroclassics in VA, spent time in FL before taking up residence in NC. Enjoy, the thicker wheel and short shift.
FYI short shift on the spec sheet means it was probably built for a customer and not dealer stock.

Some people just do not care about all those details, you know.

Lawyer I got my car from also did not know a thing about all those numerical things. He even did not know he had xenon lights, not to mention all other options. Only one option he listed in ad was heated seats. He got this car when it was 4 months old as first owner traded her in in replacement to '07 TT and "dealer called him to offer him this nice car in silver color". His very words.

I should have investigated more.

Tell him its a boxster and offer him even less.
Thats a nice 997. Some people dont know these designations. They just know they bought a Porsche sportscar. I get asked whats the difference between a 911 and a Carrera, whats a 4 vs. an S etc. all the time.

Definitely a 997.
Enjoy it... fantastic car!
I've actually browsed some ads on cars.com and their are a number of dealers trying to sell 996's as 2005's. I would look the pics over interior and exterior and they were definitely 996's 2004 or older.

These cars are 911's - have been since 1964. Actually were 901's for 1 yeasr in 1963. The Carrera designation came from a race series in Mexico in the 50's. I think it was first used in 1973. Consistently after 1984. So its a 911 Carrera today. On the rear it just says Carrera (then S or 4 etc.). The GT3, Turbo etc are also 911's.

Both are nice, IMHO. Supposedly 911 owners or prospective buyers we're miffed that the same lights were in Boxsters. Porsche changed them for that reason. That's the legend at least.
