You are in Westchester, right? That is my home base. Issue w/ the salt is, on top of leading to rust, it also damages the paint. Those big crystals being kicked up can easily chip the soft paint on these cars.

+1 - whats the point of buying a car and not driving it in the winter.

All depends on what the purpose of buying the car is for. If it was purchased as my dd, then I would be a fool to gripe about the winter. That is why I have a 10' E550 4matic as my dd and the Escalade for the family car. My idea of owning and enjoying a 911 is not driving it in the snow, thru slush and salt. Others may enjoy the idea of driving in the snow, etc. and have a C4 usually for that reason. That is fine, to each his own, but not for me. I want clean, dry roads to enjoy my Porsche experiance.

Got a call from my salesman today. "Happy New Year, how's the car doing." I tell him the 09 C4S is a joy and fun in this weather. He seems a bit pleasantly surprised after all it hasn't been above freezing and we've got about 3 foot of snow in the last month. I live on a well plowed street and have been able to drive it most every day but it has been a brutal winter so far even by Nebraska standards.

I love letting her (aka Carlotta) drift through corners but the potholes are becoming worrisome on some streets. Will take her past 2K miles tomorrow break-in by the book will be over soon. Supposed to be -26F tonight.

+1

And to add... for me it is virtually only a top down driver. I insure it from April to November, when I basically only drive it when the weather is nice and I can go topless. If it is rainy I slum it in my daily driver

I am in Florida, yes Florida and my car is getting the same treatment, so do not feel bad. Granted, I have at least been able to take it out for a drive or two this month, but right now, it is sleeting outside of my house. Might as well be a full on snow storm for Floridians.

Had a good run, over 100 miles. Getting closer to the 2,000 mile break-in-over mark. 1,550 on the clock.

Here is a link my friend took of me tooling around on the Tapan Zee Bridge.

1550?! It's most assuredly okay to be hitting 5500-6K RPM when you feel like it. I'd be hitting the rev limiter now and then.

Did a short run today (32 miles) in 37-degree weather in Tampa. I think the car drives better when the temp is cold. Funny, eh?
I am still baby-ing the car because it just hit the 820-mile mark today

I do push it every once in a while to 5 or so, it very tough to keep it @ 4,200 and below. Almost like the car defys it and makes you rev over. lol

Colder air has more oxygen per volume than hotter air. Therefore the fuel system can add more fuel with colder air yielding more hp. Enjoy!

I notice this too even with my regular cars.
Natural cold air induction!

Now, if someone would explain why cars seem to have more power when the humidity is higher. IOW, cool rainy or foggy days seem optimal. I could be wrong.
