Question 09 997 S upgrade from 09 987 base? Good idea?

Okay just left dealer and another option presents itself. A 2009 997 S coupe with the following options.
342 Heated front seats
640 Sports Chrono Plus
680 Bose
686 XM Radio
250 PDK
810 Floor mats interior
P15 Power comfort seats
267 Self dim mirror
619 Bluetooth
870 Universal Audio
345 Heated Steering
762 PAG Launch Code

Car is an 09 and listed at $99k but he's willing to deal (as they always are) and discount the car to move it by the end of the year probably about 10-12%. I think there's more available in the deal not including my trade. Thoughts on this car?

Here's my previous link https://rennlist.com/forums/997-foru...-07-997-s.html

Was looking at a CPO car but the need to take car of some negative equity on my current car may make a new car a better option in order to minimize initial outlay of $$ (I could use $5-10k in the market now instead of adding it to the deal I think).

Anyway thoughts? or or

Car is also a PAG Launch Code.

First, you must be happy with the options. If you are not, you have wasted $$$. Second, I have seen posts from wed sites where guys have stated they have received 20% off on new '09's.

My two cents....

Good luck

My 09 C2S (manual) retailed for 101 and I walked away with it for 79500.

A local dealer is selling a similarly equipped 09 C2S for 79998, BEFORE negotiations.

If your dealer isn't willing to budge (many are not) consider giving the guys above a call and take the drive from MD, it isn't TOO far for the money you'd save.

Yes he has another car an 09 C4s that's discounted 20% exactly from $115k so I think I agree there's at least 20% available to come off the car maybe 1-2 % more since I am a repeat customer with Porsche and the dealership (3 so far). As for options...only thing the car does not have is Nav; all else are okay although I'd like PSE this time around I think rather than go aftermarket. Multifunction controls and sports seats that my current car has and I do like the NEW pdk paddles for the 2010 cars like the Boxster spyder...wonder if they are retrofitable...that would be nice.

Thanks for the advice.

Hmm...same car. Its optioned almost identical to the one the dealer showed me. I think I may have to push for 5-10% off the sale price you show otherwise may have to take a road trip to NH. Mother in law lives in CT and need a ride back home for the holidays! Thanks for the lead.

Rob - Find the car you like and DO IT! The 997.2 is a fantastic car... I traded my RS4 in for one.

I would push for a better deal.

Don't be so confident that now is a good time to invest in the market. It could go either way. This really isn't a solid, confirmed bull market right now. We've just recovered off the pathetic bottoms. I'm worried about next year.

I'd negotiate and get it. Only 2 options that are missing that bother me are Nav and PASM or SPASM. Drive it and see if you're OK with the ride. I believe you can add Nav (but check and see) - this has been recently debated here on Rennlist and someone confirming that you can when the common understanding was that you couldn't. The new PCM is very good. Previous versions were not.

Deals are getting harder than the 20% off you are hearin about here. You may get a better deal on the older 09's like this one and the C4S's with funny seats or options. You could do a little better though.

The 997.2S is really impressive IMO. GL.

I don't know anything about your finances other than what I can infer from this part, but I do know that you can't borrow your way out of debt. From your sig it looks like you've already bought two brand new Porsches this year and you're upside-down on at least one of them. Rolling that "negative equity" into an even more expensive, and also brand-new car won't do anything but put you deeper underwater. Even if you bring them down 10% from their current ask, the car's still going to lose at least that much value next year.

I'm not saying you should only buy if you can just pay cash. I don't think there's anything wrong with financing a Porsche, but if your current loan structure has you owing more than your 987 is worth then the odds of this working out well for you are poor. It leaves you in a weaker bargaining position on the new car. Financing more than the sales price is going to mean you pay higher interest rate on the combined loan. Plus, you're talking about taking a giant bite of even more first-year depreciation which is staggering on these cars.

the S comes with PASM - but you can get a better deal on that car with $8k in trunk money from PAG to the dealer. i'm not saying he shouldn't make any money but if MSRP is $99k, he's basically getting near list for the car even at 10% off.

you can add nav but it's probably about $3k.

in my personal opinion, the only reasons to do this instead of buying a cpo car is to get the pdk.

Thanks guys/gals. Yes I know that I am not putting myself in any good positon if I go forward with the sale however the whole point of the purchase would be to undo the sale of my 05 997 which I should NOT have sold in the 1st place back in March. So IF I am really regretting the Boxster purchase then I should take steps to rectify it IF possible now rather than just tolerate the car; I think. So even if I go for a CPO car I will be out some cash. Agree interest rate will be higher but I plan to pay down whatever is financed ahead of the amortized schedule which will save $$ in that manner as well.

So we'll see what happens. If the numbers somewhat reasonably align then I may pull the trigger.

I am a dealer and I can tell you that launch car is probably one of the green ones and you can buy em for under 80 grand.

Yes it is green and confirmed today a a launch car by my dealer today. Currently priced at $89k. Think I can do much better than that price point wise? There's another similar demo car in white but a non S listed at $67k now. Personally I think both can be had a lower prices points and would prefer the S though.
