Default Ash & Soot

In So Cal we had winds yesterday.
Earlier in the year we had fires.

The result the air is filled with ash & soot, so much so that you can wash your car, by the time you dry it the towel will be black with airborne debris...
Not to mention I'm 15 mi. away from the burn areas.

Yikes! To think your car (and more importantly) you are breathing that stuff in! Seems like it would be advisable to stay indoors until the stuff has blown away?

Wow, that is indeed some heavy ash and soot. I don't think I'm that much farther than you, but I haven't seen that much ash locally in my area. Maybe it's because my car's garaged when not driven, and in covered parking while at work. Or then again, maybe you are much closer to the fires than I was!

Oh yeah, same here!

Good thing my car was covered and surrounded by walls the whole day, otherwise it would've been sand-blasted!

Just drove from Northridge to Hollywood via the 405/101. Heading east on the 101, looking toward the San Gabriels (where the Station Fire was), the air looked thick with haze. No doubt, the ash and soot from the burned areas driven by the strong winds.
Can't be good for anyone's lung health.
Winds are supposed to diminish some time this afternoon.

This is a good reason to think about your air filter and cabin filter. We in fire country need to change them more frequently.
