I recently had what I thought was a weak battery. I replaced it but then the new one started to get weak. Had it check out at the dealer and turns out the alternator was not up to spec. and was not producing the required voltage to keep the battery charged. It was replaced under CPO warranty (approx. $1000 repair). SO glad i have CPO!

Current draw is 25mA. Car can stay parked up to five weeks according to Porsche service bulletin (3 weeks when cold, fewer when battery is not perfectly healthy).

Most likely is the alternator problem. When alternator has problem, it will not re-charge the battery.

Do you leave the car locked (alarm set) while the maintainer is plugged in?
Reason i ask is that i have had the alarm go off (for no obvious reason) in my garage while on the maintainer. Dealer said no faults registered.
I wonder if it is a voltage fluctuation thing when the maintainer kicks on/off.
Any one else experience this?

......
When I first turn the key, I turn it to just short of cranking, so that I can read my oil level (997.1 engine, obviously) but during that 6 second wait I press the SPORT button. When I then go to crank the engine on, sometimes that SPORT button light goes out while doing the cranking. I then have to engage it again once the engine is running. When the battery has a full charge and plenty to spare, those sorts of things should stay as you leave them--and the cranking shouldn't cause them to shut off.

I've never had the alarm go off like that. I have, of course, encountered the annoyance of the key fob not working when the car is parked long enough and I have to get off my lazy *** and unlock the car the old fashioned way to reset the key fob.
