I recently had what I thought was a weak battery. I replaced it but then the new one started to get weak. Had it check out at the dealer and turns out the alternator was not up to spec. and was not producing the required voltage to keep the battery charged. It was replaced under CPO warranty (approx. $1000 repair). SO glad i have CPO!

Current draw is 25mA. Car can stay parked up to five weeks according to Porsche service bulletin (3 weeks when cold, fewer when battery is not perfectly healthy).

Agreed!!

Most likely is the alternator problem. When alternator has problem, it will not re-charge the battery.

I just put the maintainer on it if it is going to sit for a week or more. And then I dont have to think about it.

If it's only 25mA than a big 12v batt can hold a lot longer than 5 days if you ask me.

Do you leave the car locked (alarm set) while the maintainer is plugged in?
Reason i ask is that i have had the alarm go off (for no obvious reason) in my garage while on the maintainer. Dealer said no faults registered.
I wonder if it is a voltage fluctuation thing when the maintainer kicks on/off.
Any one else experience this?

When the battery has a full charge and plenty to spare, those sorts of things should stay as you leave them--and the cranking shouldn't cause them to shut off.
I imagine you can accomplish the same thing by turning on an interior light before you crank the engine.

Nah..., no biggie. FWIW, Mine is on the battery maintainer 24/7/365. I park the car and then plug it in. I figure I do everything else to keep the car "new" why not pamper the battery too?

I leave the car locked all the time, including when the maintainer is on.

I've never had the alarm go off like that. I have, of course, encountered the annoyance of the key fob not working when the car is parked long enough and I have to get off my lazy *** and unlock the car the old fashioned way to reset the key fob.
