Default x-51 Powerkit lite... how much could it be?

I was looking at the X-51 Power kit, but I don't care about the CF air-filter housing, and the PSE can be had a bit cheaper (I hope)... so if one skips those two items, what EXACT parts are required for the same Power gain?

- Header
- New program?

Anything else?

Thanks

well the CF "air filter housing" is actually a dual intake... so it's an essential part of the kit, if youre looking to get the same power gain.

Ah, I believe that x51 heads are the expensive piece of kit. Somewhere just a wee bit north of 10k... without glue.

Exactly...my idea of X51 lite is the X51 kit minus the heads as the OEM heads flow good enough to get us to 93hp/Litre. A builder in Germany claims he has gotten 390hp out of a 997.1S 3.8 with the X51 intake manifolds, X51 throttle body and CAI along with the X51 headers and your choice of mufflers. This also included 100cpi metallic sport cats.

The expensive parts are the internal that are replaced.... and the x51 is a better platform for modding too

What internal parts are replaced? I don't know if I would call the heads external. You aren't replacing cranks or pistons, I was always under the impression that was internal. In the Mustang world heads were still considered bolt-ons

The rest of the parts aren't that bad. You can put together everything else for around $3k minus the cats and mufflers.

The valve springs are stronger on the heads--giving you a higher red-line.

Thanks guys, I think this was discussed in the other X-51 thread as well. Like if I get ONLY the X51 Headers+PSE, do I get any HP gain?

Seems like 3-5HP gain, with a bit better breating in the mid-range, and a MUCH BETTER sound? Right?

Kinda regretting NOT getting an 06 X51 C4S I found before I bought mine. It didn't have Nav, Sports Chrono, and was not Porsche certified (mine is: 3yr more warranty), and with more milage would have cost me 10K more... wasn't sure if it was worth it... now, if I did the whole X51, I'd be spending 15K with install minimum... but I think if I ONLY did header+PSE, I could do it under $4K.

X51 is more than a header, ECu re-program, dual air intake and free flow mufflers...there is intake mainfold work and different valves and springs.

I KNOW... I need the full X51 to gain the whole 30HP... what I mean is, what can I expect if I just did X51 Headers and PSE... as that's fairly economical both parts and labour (as far as I can tell)...

The X51 kit has the same valves, they just do a clean up in the bowl area of the heads with a 5 angle valve job and a stiffer exhaust valve spring. Also the X51 kit can be had with or without the PSE with no change in output according to Porsche.

So Dave, if I did this, what would be the result?

"How much could it be" is the wrong question to ask with a Porsche. Be prepared to pay to increase power in any meaningful(or otherwise) degree.

The headers with PSE at best would be 4-5hp and even that is really jus speculation.

What about sound? I know PSE sounds great, but would the headers make any sound difference?
