Amber Turning Signals with LED

Perhaps I'm confused, but I thought the 997.2 tail lights give you amber on the turn signals. It would be the first time in the history of Porsche where the rear turn signals would be incapable of yellow lighting.

I'm not aware of any option to "reprogram" them to amber

OK, the discussion here made me curious as to what's available. Reading thru the 2009 Technik Introduction for the 997.2, I came across the photo set below which shows amber turn signals fourth from the top. This appears to be for the rest of the world (non USA and Canada).
The second photo came from TSB 1/09 ENU 9431 for the USA and Canada. It shows red turn signals (E). It also indicates that a portion of the turn signal is used for the small brake light when the rear fog light is on (D) forming a solid squarish region for this light in this mode. In the top photo, this region is not illuminated when the rear fog light is activated (third from the top).
I confirmed this morning that the rear tail lights on my 09 Carrera function as in the second photo set with red turn signals and a square small brake light when the rear fog light is on. Anyone in the US or Canada with amber turn signals on their 997.2?
It also indicates that you may be able to swap these out for a European set to get the amber turn signal. I doubt you would be able to reprogram an existing set since most LED's are single wavelength. You could pull all of the red LEDs and substitute yellow however if you were so inclined. Probably make for a good weekend project.

It seems like a lot of work to get the amber. As I stated earlier, this would be the first time in the production of the 911 in 1964 that you couldn't easily have amber rear turn indicators. Back in the 60s, 70s and 80s, you could swap out the outer lens and have it--and not too costly. This seems odd to me, in that there is no DOT mandate calling for red in the USA.

It's sad for me, but I think WWiliamns88 is right. I'd have to change the rear lights in order to achieve the amber color on my turn signals.....
Thanks.
Thanks.

What I heard...
Up until 2008 all Euro cars had to have Amber Turns.
Starting with the 2008 Cayenne Turns became Red. now the norm for ALL Porsches.
Guess Red is universal around the globe

Bumping an old thread - Going to check with my local dealer (I have a friend who works there) to see if the lights can be code for amber. I retrofitted euro LED tails to my 2008 GTI, and I had to VAG-COM the coding for it to turn amber, but the lights were fully capable of switching between red and amber.
When the taillights are on, once the turn signal is active, the red LED's switch to blinking amber, its pretty cool. I'm hoping that the 997 taillights were designed in a similar way.

I have Amber and Red rear led turn signal
I just bought a 997.2 C4S 2009.
I turned on warning lights and oh surprise: rear left side led is Amber and rear right side is Red!
I have no clue what change did happen to this car but now I'm looking to switch to Amber on the rear right side, just the leds for turn signal, without buying a new full piece.

Maybe there's a coding option for that or maybe one of your taillights was replaced and they used the wrong one.
I much prefer amber turn signals so they stand out more vs the running or brake lights - when everything is red the turn signals can get lost visually in the other red lights.

Glad I have the row rears . Great looking Amber lights for the turn....ambers has been the standard before, what ruling and when did the ruling change in the U.S. and Canada to make rear turn to red? And from a post here it says red rear turns are now standard across porsche?
