Not only that but you could **** your pants from the noise that those things make when they spring into action.

But, they test these cars on the Ring all the time and the Karoussell is banked. Also, their neighbor MB has a parabolic steeply banked track that they possibly could borrow.

That's why I got a 928 GT after several impossible-to-track electronic faults on my M6...I want the computer on my desk and the car on the road. Computers sell these cars as all the digital gizmos make these cars driveable by almost complete retards.

The Karoussel is not a very long turn. At Daytona you spend a lot more time on the banking and that may be what upsets PSM. I am sure the PSM monitoring software has hysteresis built in to ignore some transient conditions.

Cross Post from 6Speed:

Yes indeed - the high banking causes the PSM Failure to trip. The sensors in the car are warning that the car may indeed roll-over. The PSM has yaw, roll and other angle of departure calculations that are running while you are driving.

When I was running laps on Bristol Motor Speedway, which has some pretty steep banks (36 degrees on the turns, 16 degrees on the straightaway), the same issue occurred. Every 997 and 987 driver I spoke with had the same problem.

At the '05 997 launch there was mention of PSM not liking high speeds and banking at Cal Speedway.
I would say that this is not a new nor unknown issue

I could see Porsche not addressing it as the number of affected drivers is probably very low as a percentage.. but then at least they should address the issue in the literature and manuals for PSM and specify when PSM gives up and shuts down,.

The challenge getting this resolved is Porches stance on not liking their cars driven on the track.

But that is inconsistent with their sponsorship of track events including PSDS.

I completely agree that it is inconsistent but that is the company line. Not at the dealership level in most cases but at the corporate level for sure.

I have mentioned to MJones the hypocrisy of this before.

I never had any problems with my '05 at CA Speedway, nor have I heard of faster drivers in better prepared cars having problems with PSM there.

You are only in it for a second; hardly the long, steep banking of a super-speedway.

So, no Sport Chrono, no problem? Another reason to avoid the wart...
