Default Winter Tires and TPMS

Hello,

Got some Winter Tires and Wheels (with TPMS sensors) from the Tire Rack for my 997.2 Targa 4S. Tires and Wheels are 18" instead of 19" and are the recommandation from the Tire Rack. Installed them today, but the TPMS is only seeing the sensors from the right side of the car. I tried resetting the TPMS and I am always getting the same results. Also, when I go and choose Winter Tires, I dont get to the choices of wheel sizes. Since I move from Summer 19" to Winter 18" the manual says I should choose 18", and if I dont have it I have to go to the dealer to program that size. Anyone can confirm or have ideas what I should try ?
Thanks.

My car ('07 C2S) recognizes all four sensors after about 5 miles of driving. If you're giving it enough time to see them, then either the sensors are bad on your left side (my first guess), or maybe there is something wrong on the car-side.

My system asks for winter/summer and 18/19, so if you're not getting the ask for size then you might need to talk to your dealer - or perhaps your car is newer and that is a change?

Call our customer service dept. and let them know what's going on. They will get our TPMS guru involved and get to the bottom of it.

i clicked 'learn tpms" or whatever on the menu.. clicked the needed things and then started driving, it picked em up right away.. all 4.

not sure why, but sounds probably like something simple.. were your original wheels near the car when u did the learning? do it on a random road at a stop sign and then drive off and it should be fine..

Sometimes it takes awhile for them to get an effective 'ping-pong' between the senders (TPMS in wheels) and the receivers in the wheelwells. If after you get into the learn or acquire mode and about 15 miles goes by without them all working, it will be time to suspect something.

My 997.2 Targa 4 doesn't give me tire size options either. I can choose winter or summer and thats it. No choice in size, regardless of tire type.

I'm wondering if the computer can determine the tire size based on where it picks up the sensors in the wheel well (maybe its auto-detecting that on the 997.2?)

After driving the car a while today, it finally picked up the sensors. It just took a while which seems strange to me. But now everything seems to be in order. Now I am just wondering about the 19" and 18" that I should have as a choice according to the manual, but I dont see. I wonder if that matters...
Thanks to all.

If you find out about the 18"/19" choice, let me know. As I stated, my car also only gives me the summer/winter choice.. despite the manual, as you say, suggesting I get a size choice. Its certainly something I'm going to bring up at the 1 year checkup next month.

Thanks Minok. Let me know if you find anything. I will do the same. I was at the inauguration of the Panamera, but it was not the time and place to start asking this kind of question.
