I notice the switch to your top is right by the ash tray. Perhaps something is constantly grazing that area whenever you open or close your top.

On the key surround, it seems like a very common wear spot for many. I wonder if it's due to dangling keys or if finger nails are stratching it when turning on the ignition...

I had the ashtray cover and the driver window switch surround replaced by dealer under warranty. Need to check key surround as well.

I too am having the same issues in the same two spots. The one in the center really bothers me, I hardly ever use that little door.

Default What about getting Eric to repaint the trim?

Eric at BumperPlugs did my center consol, on my Boxster, and it has shown no signs of wear in 6 years. He will paint those trim pieces in body color, if needed, and I bet it holds up well.

On the other hand buy a half dozen ignition surrounds from the dealer and replace as needed.

Some parts take well to painting--and will hold up far better than the factory stuff. Here's what I did to my headlight switch bezel. Eric can do all of that stuff very professionally.

I sanded and repainted the headlight bezel in body color (ordered matching spray paint online) and it came out great with improved durability. I also bought a leather covered ignition key surround. it's all in the details.

Atlas gray on black. Quick and easy, only took about an hour, mostly waiting for te paint to dry. Note this is $180 if you bought it from a popular vendor.

Thinking about buying another bezel from suncoast and painting it silver to match the vents.
