Default OEM Fire Extinguisher Retrofit

Has anyone retrofitted an OEM FE into thier 997 with sport adaptive seats? Please provide some advice/instruction on the process.

Also if you can remember what type of fasteners you used to affix the mount to the seat that would be appreciated.

I purchased a porsche factory fire extinguisher from Suncoast, however it came with neither fasteners or installation instructions. I have searched the forums extensively and came up with a lot of good info on removing seats and installilng other FE mounts but nothing specific to the OEM mount.

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Regards, JJ

here's some pictures of the OEM installation, to help you with positioning it.

Does anyone know where you can buy the OEM extinguisher and mounts?

As hammer212 mentions, I too can only find After Market set ups.

Best I could suggest is SUNSET Porsche in the Portland area. Very reasonable prices, no sales tax, and reasonable shipping. It would be reasonable to assume that if you talk with them about what they are seeing on the microfische, they could set you up with the appropriate fasteners.

They're the ones I go to for consumable parts for my car.

Default Fire exinguisher

This might help in figuring out the setup. (I hope the attachment works). It is pretty easy once you assemble all the parts and plan on taking the seat out (the sports adaptive are heavy).

The trick is to take out the seat bottom springs (they are just hooked on the front seat side) to get really easy access to the seat pan. You will need to get some metric lugs from a hardware store if you are getting this from Sunset/Suncoast. Also get plenty of washers. Just take part 11 and 9 to a hardware store and get enough screws and lugs to fit (and always 2 extra just in case). I think it was size 6 and 8, but I don't remember.

After reinstalling the seat and starting up you may get a "PSM failure" warning. It just needs to recalibrate itself - by driving.

Let me know if you need more details, I can probably recreate the steps.

You will need a special star-tool for removing the seats. (4 bolts). The right sized Torx will work just as well.

@luisimo - got mine at Suncoast here is the link
http://e-partssales.com/miva/merchan...ry_Code=996int

but agian, no fasteners or install instructions. I have order a few things from them (like clear side marker) and been impressed with thier prices and quick delivery

@tad_g - thanks much. upon inquiry they sent me a similar diagram. how long were the fasterners you used to attach #9 to #14/15? that is the part I am worried about how do you get 9 to 14/15 done?

@rijowysock - its all about meeting the PCA rules for DE events

I used 6x20 mm fasteners for the 8-9-10 part, this one is not as critical as long as it is long enough. It may have been shorter, the only ones I have left are 20...

The 14/15 to 9, through the seat pan bottom was more work. I think I ended up using 5x12 mm ones, But don't trust me on that length, take the parts to a hardware store and make just try the different length. This one should be just long enough. I bought a selection of sizes and used what made the most sense.

The trick with getting 14/15 fastened to 9 is getting the springs in the seat pan out. If you pull them towards the front, they unhook and can be removed. I also loosened the set of screws in the back of the seat pan while trying to get the springs out. Think you can get away without doing this though.

Once the springs are out, you can just stick your hand (and a flat wrench) between the seat pan and the seat cushion to get the fasteners situated and then fasten the screws. That is the main reason to get the seat out.
