Default Tire make / Prices - 06 997S

What would be a highly recommended daily driving road tire for
a 997s? Also, what type of prices are you paying?

I last completely replaced (all 4) of my Bridgestones and have been very happy with them. Going price was about $1260 out the door, dynamically balanced and mounted.

That is a great price relative to the PS2. I am considering trying a set on my 07 997S when my PS2's are worn out.

I'm a huge PS2 fan, but in this case I'd try the new Bridgestone RE-11 as Mike suggests. 235/305 sizes for $1164 a set at Tire Rack and if you order soon you get a $100 Visa card to boot, so net $1064! I don't know anyone that has tried them, but the reports are all stellar so far.

I had PS2s but went with the Bridgestones. I like them. They seem less harsh over expansion joints than the PS2s were.

i suspect this is a really dumb question, but how bad would it be to have two different makes on front and back? my fronts don't have much wear, but there's a superficial tear on one of the rears that my tech says is okay but I'm nervous about given how much autocross i want to do this season ...

This is one of the most asked questions at the forum. I think it's pretty unanimous not to mix - different tires have different characteristics in cold, wet, and even dry conditions.

Thank you all for your input.
If you can get a good tire for $300 each, out the door, that
is not too crazy. I have spent nearly that amount on tires
for my 5 Series and they are half the width. In addition,
if you drive quasi conservatively, you should be able to get 20k miles
out of them.

You'll be very lucky to get such a price.

I have a quote from Costco for PS2 N3 of $1368 balanced, installed ($372 rear, $312 front). I want less harsh ride so sounds like I should look at the Bridgestones. Currently have OE Continentals and they are very stiff for my old body.

Jim, you'd trust Costco to mount/install new tires on your 997?

I'm definitely trying the Bridgestones when my Pirelli's wear out.
