Default 305's or 295's??

Gents - Curious how many of you with the non-4S' have "plus-sized" to the 305's? My original tires were 295s, and then for a set I upsized to 305's. Just went back to 295's, and I swear the car handles better, tighter, and more nimble. I am sure the 305's, albeit only a small difference in width, "trammed" a tad more, and made the car a bit unsettled.

Anyway, perhaps the "S" car OEM set-up is best tuned to the 295's, which is why they are the stock tires and they don't offer a 305 option from the dealer? doh!

Anyway, curious what other have experienced.

I just switched to 305s (Bridgestone RE050's) on 11.5 " rears from PS2s 295s on 11". I'm not sure I'm a good enough driver yet to really feel the difference. And if I did - could it have been the Bridgestones vs PS2's; wider 19" wheels; forged vs cast - I don't know. Does fill out the wheel well a bit more for sure.

My situation is the same as az911s, except I switched from Pirellis to Bridgestones.
Switching from 295s to 305s (on 11.5 Carrera Sport wheels) does make the car "look" better, IMO.
If there's a significant difference in handling, I haven't noticed it.
But, I may not be a sophisticated enough driver to really tell.

My PS2s feel better with the 295-less tracking. But, it all could be wishfull thinking. The 305s do look "better." I'm going to get a set of 18's CIII when the time comes, so I don't care much for looks.

only upsized to 305's cause the brand runs small.. measured they run same as michelin 235/295 but they are 245/305... tires are like shoes... they run diff in diff brands so comparing size is moot unless its a considerable difference.

The car runs fine on 295s. If anything, for the same alignment, 305s will cause more understeer.

If you order the car with XRR wheels (Carrera Sports) you default to the 305s in the back from the factory. That's the way mine came originally, and what I continue to buy.

I went from 295's to 305's on my 07 for my street tires. I could not tell a difference in ride or handling on the street. They did look a little more beefy though. they fit just fine on the 11" wheel.

They do in fact offer the 2S with 305's in the rear...you just have to order the Carrera Sport Wheels.

The XRR rims are the widest rims ever made available (OEM) for the Porsche 911,--to date. 8.5 in front. 11.5 in the rear. Only the GT3 comes wider at 12.

That's how mine came configured. Love the look. Since I'm still in my break-in period, I haven't pushed the car hard enough to tell if there's any difference.

I changed from 295 to 305 on my stock C2S wheels and they were shod with Bridgestone RE050A's N0 tires.

Looks much better.

Driving/handling... I'd say they are up there with PS/2's.

Very much. I haven't seen one negative comment on RL so far. And the price is so much more palatable than the PS2s.
